To upgrade the ONU Firmware from OLT in CLI mode:

To upload the firmware:

1. Download a TFTP server from Google and install. We used Tftpd64


2. Download the latest ONU firmware and save it to your Desktop. Rename the
file as “image.tar”. Before download please check and confirm your ONU
model. To download the latest firmware please go to below site –
https://sites.google.com/bdcom.cn/international/download/firmware/onuont?
authuser=0
3. Set an IP address to your OLT. Here the OLT IP and subnet is
192.168.199.3/255.255.255.0
4. Connect your PC to your OLT any Giga port directly with an UTP cable. Assign
your PC IP/subnet is 192.168.199.4/255.255.255.0
5. Apply below commands step by step

Copy tftp flash [then enter]

image.tar [write the file name and give enter]

192.168.199.4 [Remote-server ip address means your PC IP]

6. Destination file name [just give enter]


7. The file will start to upload to your OLT from your PC
8. After successfully completion the upload you will see above image

9. Switch#dir
Use this command to check if the file (image.tar) in your OLT flash memory
10. Use the following command to upgrade the ONU Firmware from your OLT

 Switch#epon update onu image image.tar interface epON 0/3:1


Note: You can upgrade the firmware of a single ONU or if you want you may upgrade
multiple ONUs simultaneously. To upgrade the Firmware in multiple ONUs use comma
(,) or Hyphen (-) to select the range.
11. After successfully completion the up gradation the ONU Firmware you will see
below image. The ONU will be rebooted automatically and it will be registered
with your OLT
