Sl.No Description of Questions CO k-

Level
1 In the manufacture of the balance wheel for speed control device, finished CO3 K4
wheels are tested for dynamic balance on a test stand at 6,000 rev/min. if a
vibration force in excess of 85 g cm/ s2 results the balance must be re-machined.
Because of the critical nature of this test control charts for X bar and R are
maintained using a sub group size of four. Warning limits at 2 σ and standard 3
σ control limits are used as well. The process has been operating in control at an
estimated X double bar of 74 g cm/ s2 and an σ ‘of 3.4. Calculate the warning
limits and Control limits for X bar and R chart .( 9 Marks)

2 A certain manufacturing process has exhibited linear increasing trend. CO3 K4

Sub.Gr Avg Range Sub.Gr Avg Range Sub.Gr Avg Range

5 205.6 17 10 207.8 16 15 213.8 8

Sample averages and ranges for the past 15 subgroups, taken every minutes in
subgroups of 5 items are given in table. Find the linear trend line to these data
and plot a trended X bar control chart with 3 σ limits
3 The daily analysis of CO2 as CaO at any intermediate stage in a chemical CO3 K4
manufacturing Process is as given below

Date 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
CO2 as 0.53 0.62 0.63 0.54 0.50 0.50 0.51 0.53 0.56

Compute 3 day moving average and moving ranges and plot a chart for each.
Base your control limits on X double of 0.66 and R of 0.085 both obtained from
past data
4 Explain the multivariate chart with suitable illustration CO3 K2
5 Purity of chemical were tested for 30 numbers. The company guarantees a CO3 K4
percentage of 99% with a standard purity aimed of 99.4 %. The standard
deviation is 0.10. Plot the CUSUM Chart with the horizontal interval of 0.20 and
a vertical reading as 2 standard deviation
