Configure ports 1-16 and 19-26, which are the ports connected to the servers and chassis, as server ports.

Tip:
In the Equipment menu, navigate to Equipment > Fabric Interconnects > Fabric Interconnect B (subordinate). Choose the Physical
Ports tab and expand the Fixed Module list.
• Step 7:

Choose ports 1-16 and 19-26 and configure them as server ports.

Tip:
You can select multiple ports by holding Alt-Shift. Right-click the chosen ports and choose the Configure as Server Port option from the
menu.

Confirm that you want to configure selected objects as a server port by choosing Yes. Click OK in the confirmation window.
• Step 8:

Observe the overall status and admin state of the configured ports. The overall status should be Up, and the admin state should be
Enabled.

Tip:
For ports 1-16 and 19-26, verify the values in the Overall Status and Admin State columns.

• Step 9:

Observe the topology. You should see that all Fabric Interconnect links are up.

Tip:
In the sidebar menu, navigate to Equipment.

Task 2: Explore the Discovered Server

Show Steps

• Step 1:
Explore the topology. You should see that the servers are connected to the Fabric Interconnect.

Tip:
In the Equipment menu, navigate to Equipment.

• Step 2:

Verify the connected server. Observe details about the server, like product name, PID, serial number, number of processors, and so on.

Tip:
In the Equipment menu, navigate to Equipment > Rack-Mounts > Servers. Expand the menu and choose Server 3. You should see the
details about the server.

• Step 3:

Check the status details. The server should be Unassociated, meaning there is no server profile assigned.

Tip:
Expand the Status Details menu. You should see some info about the server status, similar to the figure below.
• Step 4:

Explore the Inventory tab and the Motherboard subtab.

Tip:
Open the Inventory tab and navigate to the Motherboard subtab. You can find some basic info about the motherboard. You can also
update BIOS from here.

• Step 5:

Explore the CIMC subtab.

Tip:
Navigate to the CIMC subtab. You can find some basic info about CIMC, such as hardware information, management IP address, and so
on.
• Step 6:

Explore the CPUs subtab.

Tip:
Navigate to the CPUs subtab. You can find some basic information about CPUs on the server. Your results may differ from the output
shown below.

• Step 7:

Explore the Memory subtab.

Tip:
Navigate to the Memory subtab. You can find some basic information about memory on the server.
• Step 8:

Explore the Adapters subtab.

Tip:
Navigate to the Adapters subtab. You can find more information about the adapters on the server.

• Step 9:

Explore the Storage subtab.

Tip:
Navigate to the Storage subtab. You can find the number and type of disks, LUNs, and so on.
Task 3: Configure Uplink Ports to Cisco Nexus Switch

Note

In this task, you are going to configure uplink ports even though in this emulated lab environment, there is no upstream switch (e.g., Nexus device).

Show Steps

• Step 1:

Configure the Fabric Interconnect A ports 107 and 108 as an uplink port. Observe that the overall status changes to Up and the admin
state changes to Enabled.

Tip:
In the Equipment menu, navigate to Equipment > Fabric Interconnects > Fabric Interconnect A (primary). Choose the Physical
Ports tab. Expand the Fixed Module list.

Assume that the Port 107 and the Port 108 are connected to the Cisco Nexus 7000 Switch. Right-click on the port and choose Configure
as Uplink Port.
Confirm the selection and click OK once again.

Observe the status of the ports 107 and 108. The overall status should be Up, and the admin state should be Enabled.

Note

In a real-life scenario, if the port status is not up and enabled, you would SSH to the network device on the other side of the links (e.g.
Cisco Nexus Switch) and perform a no shutdown command.

• Step 2:

Configure the Fabric Interconnect B ports 107 and 108 as an uplink port. Observe that the overall status changes to Up and the admin
state changes to Enabled.
Tip:
Navigate to Equipment > Fabric Interconnects > Fabric Interconnect B (subordinate). Choose the Physical Ports tab and expand the
Fixed Module list. Select ports 107 and 108. Right-click the selected ports and choose Configure as Uplink Port from the menu.

Confirm the selection and click OK once again.

Observe the status of the ports 107 and 108. The overall status should be Up, and the admin state should be Enabled.
Task 4: Configure Port Channel to Cisco Nexus Switch
Show Steps

• Step 1:

Configure Ports 107 and 108 to be members of a Port Channel on the Cisco Fabric Interconnect A.

Tip:
Open the LAN menu.

Navigate to the LAN > LAN Cloud > Fabric A > Port Channels.
Click Add at the bottom. You should see a new window.

Set the ID to 1 and the name to PC_to_VirtualSw. Click Next.

On the next screen, choose the ports 107 and 108 and move the ports to the right. Click Finish, then click OK on the next screen.
• Step 2:

Verify the status of the Port Channel in the Cisco UCS Manager GUI. The status should be Indeterminate.

Tip:
Navigate to LAN > LAN Cloud > Fabric A > Port Channels > Port-Channel 1 PC_to_VirtualSw. Choose the General tab. As this is the
emulated Lab environment and there is no Port Channel configured on the opposite side, you should see that the Port Channel status is
Indeterminate. In the real-life scenario where the Port Channel is properly configured on the Cisco Nexus Switch, the status of the Port
Channel shown in the Cisco Manager GUI should be Up.

Additionally, you can verify that both ports are members of a new Port Channel interface. Open the Ports tab. You should see that there
are two members in this Port Channel.

• Step 3:

Configure Ports 107 and 108 to be members of a Port Channel on the Cisco Fabric Interconnect B.
Tip:
Navigate to the LAN > LAN Cloud > Fabric B > Port Channels.

Click the Add button at the bottom. You should see a new window.

Set the ID to 1 and the name to PC_to_VirtualSw. Click Next.

On the next screen, choose the ports 107 and 108 and move the port to the right. Click Finish, then click OK on the next screen.
• Step 4:

Verify the status of the Port Channel in the Cisco UCS Manager GUI. The status should be Indeterminate.

Tip:
Navigate to LAN > LAN Cloud > Fabric B > Port Channels > Port-Channel 1 PC_to_VirtualSw.
