NON SEXIEST EDUCATION PROGRAM

Who wants to read? (the students will raise their hands)

(the students will read the definition)

Yes, Jean? Kindly please read?

The GFE program develops the capacity of educators and school

administrators in gender-fair learning, non-sexist language,
feminist research methodologies, among other gender-fair
pedagogical approaches

Very good! Jean

What do you think is the Aim of this program? (Students will raise their hands)

Gender fair or non-sexist education is an approach to learning

that aims to eliminate gender biases and promote equal
opportunities for all students, regardless of their gender identity.
The concept is rooted in the belief that traditional educational
practices can inadvertently reinforce gender stereotypes and
contribute to gender inequalities in society.

The aim of this program is the gender fairness. Girls and boys
have the same opportunity and rights in education.

Do you understand what is Gender Fair/Non-sexist

Yes, Ma’am
Education,Class?

Here are some key points to consider in the discussion about

gender fair/non-sexist education:

Gender Stereotypes in Education: Traditional educational

materials and practices have often reinforced stereotypes about
gender roles, abilities, and interests. For example, girls might be
encouraged to pursue subjects like arts and humanities, while
boys might be pushed towards STEM fields. These stereotypes
can limit individual potential and lead to disparities in career
choices later in life.

Inclusive Curriculum: A gender fair education system works

towards creating an inclusive curriculum that reflects the
contributions and achievements of people of all genders
throughout history and across various fields. This helps to
challenge traditional gender norms and promotes diversity and
inclusion.
Equal Opportunities: Gender fair education seeks to provide
equal opportunities for all students to participate in various
activities and excel in subjects that interest them, regardless of
societal expectations related to their gender.

Promoting Critical Thinking: Gender fair education

encourages students to think critically about the societal norms
and stereotypes surrounding gender, promoting open discussions
and challenging preconceived notions.

Addressing Bullying and Harassment: A gender fair education

system addresses issues of bullying and harassment based on
gender identity. It creates a safe space for students to express
themselves without fear of discrimination or ridicule.

Promoting Diversity and Inclusion: A gender fair education

system recognizes and celebrates the diversity of students'
experiences and identities, fostering an inclusive learning
environment that values everyone's unique contributions.

(The teacher will futher explains each keypoints) (Student will read the definition)

Are we clear with the key-points class?

In conclusion, gender fair/non-sexist education is an essential

step towards creating a more equitable and inclusive society. By
challenging traditional gender norms, eliminating biases, and
providing equal opportunities for all, we can empower
individuals to pursue their interests and potential, regardless of
their gender identity. This benefits not only the students but also
society as a whole, leading to a more diverse and prosperous
future.

This program in education that aims to eliminate gender biases

and promote equal opportunities for all students to achieve
Quality education and Gender fairness

What are the barriers in achieving Quality education and Gender

fairness

1. The gender pay gap is one of the best-known gender issues,

but progress has been slow. Globally, the World Bank estimates
that about 2.4 billion women of working age don’t get equal
economic opportunities compared to men. The amount of unpaid
labor put on women is a big reason why, but many countries
aren’t paying women as much as men
(GENDER INEQUALITY)

2.Transphobia, trans people face increased levels of violence

and discrimination worldwide. In the US’ largest study of
transgender and gender non-conforming people, 28% reported
harassment in healthcare settings. In 2020, Human Rights Watch
tracked a record number of violent attacks against transgender
and gender non-conforming people.
(GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE)
3. Gender discrimination is when someone is treated unequally
or disadvantageously based on their gender but not necessarily in
a sexual nature. This includes harassment/discrimination based
on sex, gender identity, or gender expression.

4. Gender-based bullying - Sexuality and gender-based

bullying can be similar to sexual harassment or sexual
orientation discrimination. It can be suggestive comments or
jokes, insults or taunts, pictures, emails or texts sent by the bully
and intrusive questions about a student's private life.
(BULLYING OF SEXUAL ORIENTATION)
