Measurement and control

 Logo is a simple computer programming language which can be used to
control devices.
 Logo is often used with a screen turtle, which is an object on the screen
used to simulate how a turtle moves around the floor.
 There are many commands which can be used to control the turtle.

When a group of commands are repeated several times, an abbreviated

version can be developed using the REPEAT command. Commands for a
square can be summarised as: REPEAT 4[ FORWARD 100 RIGHT 90]

Computer Graphics
Computer Graphics involves creating and manipulating visual
content using computer software and hardware. It includes things
like drawing, colouring, and animating images on a computer.
Common File Formats:
JPEG: Used for photographs and complex images, but the quality can
decrease with compression
PNG: Supports transparency and is commonly used for web
graphics.
GIF: Used for simple animations and graphics with limited colours.
TIFF: Used for high-quality image storage and printing.
Photos can be edited using a program on your computer or in your
web browser.
Adobe Photoshop: This one of the most popular software for editing
and
manipulating photos and creating digital art.
Features of photo-editing software:
• Red-eye removal is used to correct the effect a flash can have on
eye colour.
• Cropping allows you to select part of the image and get rid of the
rest.
• Special effects can make the photo look like an oil painting, sketch,
or cartoon.
• Brightness and contrast can brighten the photo if it’s too dark or
darken it if it’s too light. You can change the contrast or adjust the
richness of colours.

-Compression reduces the file size of images or videos while

maintaining visual quality.
-Lossless compression preserves all image data, while lossy
compression sacrifices some details for higher compression.
-Compression helps save storage space and makes it easier to send
images over the internet.

• Virtual Reality (VR): Computer graphics helps create immersive

virtual reality experiences.
• Augmented Reality (AR): Combines computer graphics with real-
world environments to overlay virtual objects.
• Drawing Tablets: Devices that allow users to draw directly on a
digital screen, mimicking traditional drawing techniques.
• Graphic Design: Using computer graphics to create visual designs
for advertisements, logos, and more.

Computer Modelling And Simulation

• A computer model is a representation of a real-life system or
situation, such as the workings of a nuclear reactor or the
evacuation of a Football stadium.
• a collection of rules is created to study what would happen in real-
life Situations. Changes are made to see how they affect the
outcome. For
Example, before a new football stadium is built, a computer model
could be used to see if there are enough fire exits and if they’re in
the safest places.

Simulations are a type of computer model. A simulation imitates a

Particular environment. It can be used for research or training.
• pilots are initially trained using a flight simulator. The simulator
Consists of a cockpit that is identical to the cockpit in a real plane.
The windows are replaced with computer screens that show a
Simulation of the outside world.

effects or reliable
• physical models are physical replicas of a system or situation, such
as a scale model of a building.
• mathematical models use equations and formulas to describe the
behavior of a system or situation, such as a model of population
growth or a model of heat transfer in a building. Spreadsheets can
be used for this.
• computer-based models or simulations use computer software to
create a virtual representation of a system or situation, such as a
simulation of traffic flow or a simulation of airplanes.
EXAMPLES:
Weather Forecasting uses models to predict weather.
VR allows us to interact with the metaverse.
Engineers use models to simulate traffic while building roads.
Engineers use CAD (Computer aided design) to create models to
plan buildings
