Descriptive Essay

Overview
Descriptive essay is a genre of essay writing that deals with the description
of a thing, person or an emotion.It is meant to enhance the creative
writing skill of a student and to encourage them to think out of the box.

An ideal descriptive essay urges students to explore their ability to use


their imagination to the core.

Fourth paragraph

Conclusion

➔ Culmination of the essay.

➔ Summing up of the entire topic in the perfect manner.

➔ May conclude with quote or an anecdote.

➔ Do not end with recommendations.


Sample draft
● You visited your friend’s hometown and stayed with him/her in her
grandparents house during the last vacation.Describe vividly all that
you saw and heard all around you and what were your feelings when
you left from there.
Introduction

★ I always wanted to visit a village to understand the beauty and aura of the place.
★ The peace and serenity as explained by my parents.
★ To know the difference in their lifestyles.
★ Got the chance to when my friend invited to spent vacation in his/her

Second paragraph

★ Our tiredness was completely vanished by the aroma of traditional food from the
kitchen.
★ We could sense that a sumptuous meal awaited us.
★ The taste of food was mind blowing for a first timer like me.
★ The tangy taste of the mango dessert tingled my taste buds to the core.
★ We were given black tea with a tinge of pepper after our lunch as it was their
custom to culminate the grand feast.
Fourth paragraph

★ The days I’ve spent with her grandparents definitely gave a heartburn to me.
★ I missed my grandparents whom I’ve not met for the past two years.
★ This home definitely gave me a lot of memories.
★ It gave me the insight that one should always be close with your tradition.
★ Such an intimacy is possible only when you are close with your grandparents.
★ Their love,care and concern is unmatchable.
Conclusion

★ Altogether this was a rejuvenating experience for me.


★ This trip definitely taught me many things of which being attached to your roots is
crucial.
★ I will definitely miss this beautiful home and her grandparents.
★ They taught me how to be courteous and humble in your life and how to be good
hosts.
★ I will always be thankful to my friend for inviting me to such a wonderful place
