DIRECTION: Answer the

following questions, in a maximum of 10 sentences per question.

(10 points each)

1. Provide a
concise overview of the advantages that your research proposal contributes to
the engineering field's body of knowledge.

Our cities are getting bigger , As an future civil engineer, I see it every day - we're running out
of space. We need to build smarter, not wider, to keep our environment healthy. That's where
high-rises come in, but building them the old way takes forever and costs a fortune. We came
up to prefabrication and it is a game-changer: imagine building stuff off-site, like giant Lego

sets, then just snapping them together. It's faster, cheaper, and way kinder to the environment
with less impact.
Our research objectives aim to analyze global trends, identify challenges, assess benefits,
explore innovations, and understand stakeholder dynamics to arm the engineering community
with insights for eco-friendly urban development. This research proposal calls on engineers to
embrace innovation and leverage prefabrication to reshape cities into sustainable hubs for the
future.

2. What challenges
or constraints did you encounter during the process of drafting your research
paper?

I believe that one of the obstacles we encountered in our research was our lack of time and
limited knowledge in conducting research, especially since we are products of online classes
and may not have been properly guided. In terms of the actual research process, we struggled
because we were unable to gather data from the respondents we wanted to interview, so I think
our research may be lacking in that aspect. Despite these challenges, we made efforts to work
with the resources and opportunities available to us. We tried to make the most out of the
information we could access and analyze. However, it's important to acknowledge that there
are limitations to our study due to these constraints. Moving forward, we recognize the
importance of seeking guidance and improving our research skills to overcome such obstacles
in future endeavors. Despite the setbacks, we remain committed to contributing what we can to
the body of knowledge in our field. We view this experience as a learning opportunity and a
stepping stone for growth as researchers.

3. What
significance does the selection of the appropriate research design hold in the
context of your study?

Choosing the right research design is super important for our study, especially considering the
big challenges of urbanization in the Philippines. We're diving into how prefabricated
construction could help solve some of these problems. By looking at what's already been
written and studied, we can get a good grip on the pros and cons of using prefabrication in
building high-rises.
If we're given a chance we want to talk to different people involved, like architects and
engineers, to see what they think. Plus, we'll check out how rules and regulations affect things,
and try to come up with smart strategies to tackle any issues. Our goal is to figure out how
prefabrication can make building skyscrapers faster, cheaper, and better for the environment.
Even though there are challenges along the way, like dealing with rules and making sure
everyone works together, having a clear research plan helps us stay on track. We're hoping
that by doing this research, we can give engineers and builders some useful ideas for making

cities in the Philippines more eco-friendly and efficient. So, yeah, picking the right research
design is like setting the course for a journey towards better urban development.

4. What would
you consider to be the most valuable insight gained from the course on Research
Methods, and what makes it significant to you?

What I've learned in research methods is the basics of making a research paper because I've
forgotten how to do it since we've been doing mostly problem-solving and lab reports. I'm also
glad to learn about the topic we chose for our research study because I know it could be a key
to the development of the construction industry here in the Philippines. It feels like
rediscovering the steps of crafting a research paper has reignited my passion for learning and
exploring new topics. Through this research, I've gained a deeper understanding of the
importance of proper methodology in conducting studies and how it can impact real-world
industries. As we delve into our chosen topic, I'm excited about the possibilities it holds for
contributing to the advancement of our country's infrastructure and economy. This experience
has reminded me of the value of continuous learning and the significance of research in driving
progress and innovation. Moving forward, I'm eager to apply the skills and knowledge gained
from this research journey to future endeavors.

5. How do you
expect this course to significantly influence your future as a Civil Engineer?

Research methods have influenced me in a way that made me realize how enjoyable it is to
explore new methods that could potentially benefit the construction industry in our country.
Through this subject, I've also learned to be more analytical and to search for new innovations
that I can apply in the coming years when I become a civil engineer. It's fascinating to see how
research can lead to discovering novel approaches and technologies that have the potential to
revolutionize how we build and develop infrastructure. By studying different research
methodologies, I've gained insights into the importance of critical thinking and adaptability in
the field of engineering. This experience has sparked a curiosity within me to continue learning
and exploring innovative solutions that can address the evolving challenges of the construction
industry. As I look ahead to my future career as a civil engineer, I'm excited about the
opportunities to contribute to the advancement of our nation's infrastructure through research
and innovation.
