Slide 1:

Hello today we will be presenting our proposal Presentation for our senior design
project Smart Wheelchair.

Slide 2
Objectives include
A plan to Build A Simple and easy to use IOT Based controller, in a Smart Wheel
Chair.
Keep The Production cost of the chair cheap,
Have Voice Command system for fully paralyzed patients
Easy control for patients with one hand
Researchable and possibly easy to make the chair Stand, for helping the patient
reach different heights, having a simple emergency notification

Slide 3
Scope included the following
It provides a Human Friendly interface.
Allowing users to give higher level directional commands.
It is a reactive system and doesn’t require maps or planning.
It has been developed for both Indoor and outdoor environments, all being
programmed by artificial intelligence.
It will also help people who are not able to move anywhere.

Slide 4
Here are a few existing, systems

1. Attendant Propelled Chairs

2. Motorized Manual Chairs
3. Mobility Scooters
4. Single Arm Drive Wheelchair
5. Standing Wheelchair

Slide 5

The idea for our project is to build a voice operated wheelchair,

Few patients such as quadriplegics and multiple sclerosis type cannot drive
joystick operated wheelchairs.
They are dependent on other people or helpers to move from one place to another,
and in such a way they don’t have the freedom of mobility.
This powered wheelchair motor control and drive system which consists of
microcontroller and DC motors is a great solution.

Slide 6
The hardware we used is a raspberry pi, a microphone for voice. Also, we used a
touch screen sensor for movement that will be easy for the patient to use. The LCD
screen on the Raspberry pi is a touch based TFT screen

Slide 7

Our Mechanical Parts include:

DC motors, which are used to drive the wheelchair.

We’ll also use chain drive which is the driving mechanism.

Finally, two 12V,32 amperes maintenance-free, led acid batteries are used.

Slide 8
Software Requirements
We used raspberry pi OS and Python code for voice (recognition)(‫ )ركوقنيشن‬and
Arduino Ide to program the Motor driver

Slide 9
This is our block diagram.
We used a microphone with a voice recognition((‫ ))ركوقنيشن‬software to reconize
basic commands.
As well as have sensors to find obstacles)‫ (اوبستكلز‬and help navigate the two
motors.
We have two motors that will function for movement as well as one motor to make
the chair stand completely straight.
The remote is built of a touch screen for easy use for the patient to move.

Slide 10
Smart wheelchairs are becoming a popular research platform for adaptive systems
and human robot interaction. A robust voice interface is designed for human voice
recognition. The recognized voice commands are used to generate voice control
commands to the low-level DSP voice controller so that it can control the motion
of the chair according to the user's intention.

Slide 11
The voice recognition we have to recognize words like move forward, move
backward, stand up, stop. When the word is heard the commands from Raspberry
Pi are sent to the chair.
Slide 12

This is our circuit diagram.

We connect the Mike to the Pi using USB and the raspberry pi voice SDK converts
the words.
this is just the circuit of the Voice recognition((‫))ركوقنيشن‬.
