Guidelines for Project Synopsis

The term project synopsis mainly defines the core of any project dealing with. To understand and
have a brief idea regarding the project, the synopsis of the project works well much essential.

The length of the synopsis should not be too much, an average of 2-3 pages will be sufficient but
can be modified or extended depending upon the project. The main aim of preparing a project
synopsis is to provide an objective and working procedure of the project.

For preparing a synopsis, there is a particular protocol that needs to be followed. Some of the
important things that need to be included in a project synopsis are,

1. Title of the project

2. Introduction - About the Problem, The primary reason to chose this particular topic
3. Related work/ Literature Review(Here you describe the previous work related to your
project.)
4. objective of the project (a clear picture of the project)
5. Methodology (Write your methodology to accomplish your proposed work.)
6. Hardware & Software to be used
7. Testing Technologies used
8. Limitations of the system proposed
9. Summary/conclusion

1. Title of the project
AUTOMATIC BRAKING SYSTEM THROUGH ALCOHOL DETECTION
WITH WIRELESS CONTROL.

2. Introduction

An automatic braking system through alcohol detection is an advanced safety

technology designed to prevent accidents caused by impaired driving. This system
integrates sensors and algorithms to monitor a driver’s alcohol level and
automatically engage the brakes if impairment is detected.
Purpose: The primary goal of this system is to enhance road safety by preventing
vehicles from being operated under the influence of alcohol. Driving while impaired
is a major cause of accidents, and this technology aims to reduce such incidents by
automatically intervening when alcohol consumption is detected.
Reason: The topic of an automatic braking system through alcohol detection is
chosen because it addresses a critical safety issue: preventing drunk driving accidents.
This technology enhances vehicle safety by automatically braking when alcohol
impairment is detected, thereby reducing road traffic injuries and fatalities. It aligns
with evolving regulatory trends and supports innovation in automotive safety.
Additionally, it raises public awareness about drunk driving risks and contributes to
ongoing research and development in vehicle safety technologies.

3. Related work/ Literature Review

The concept of automatic braking systems through alcohol detection builds on a

foundation of related work and research in automotive safety and alcohol detection
technologies. Here’s a brief overview of relevant literature and developments in this
field
Alcohol Detection Technologies: Traditional alcohol detection methods often involve
breathalyzers that measure alcohol concentration in breath samples. Research has
focused on improving the sensitivity and accuracy of these sensors. For example,
studies have developed miniaturized breathalyzers integrated into vehicle interiors to
continuously monitor a driver’s BAC
Vehicle Safety Systems : Automatic braking systems, or autonomous emergency
braking (AEB), are well-established in vehicle safety. These systems use sensors and
algorithms to detect imminent collisions and apply brakes to prevent or mitigate
accidents. The integration of alcohol detection with AEB represents an extension of
this technology.

4.Objective of the project

The objective of a project on an *Automatic Braking System through Alcohol

Detection with Wireless Control* is to design and implement a vehicle safety system
that integrates alcohol detection and automatic braking features to enhance road
safety.

5. Methodology

The methodology for an automatic braking system through alcohol detection involves
designing the system, selecting and integrating alcohol sensors, and developing
algorithms to analyze BAC levels. It includes calibrating and testing the system,
integrating it with the vehicle's braking mechanism, ensuring regulatory compliance,
and refining the user experience. Finally, it involves deploying the system in vehicles
and monitoring its performance for continuous improvement.

6.Hardware & Software

Software used:
Express PCB – for designing circuit.
PIC C compiler - for compilation part .
Proteus 7 (Embedded C) – for simulation.

Hardware Components:
PIC18F542 microcontroller.
GSM 300 MODULE.
Alcohol Sensor.
GPS 65 MODULE

7.Testing Technologies used

Testing technologies for an automatic braking system through alcohol detection

involve:
Sensor Testing: Verify accuracy and durability of alcohol sensors under
various conditions.
Algorithm Testing: Validate algorithms using simulated and real-world
BAC data.
System Integration Testing: Ensure proper interaction with the vehicle’s
braking system and check for interference with other functions.
Safety and Compliance Testing: Confirm the system meets regulatory
standards and operates safely.
User Experience Testing: Assess how the system affects driver comfort
and gather feedback.
iv
8. Limitations of the system proposed

 Accuracy Issues: Potential for false positives/negatives in alcohol detection.

 Integration Challenges: Difficulties in integrating with existing vehicle
systems and ensuring reliable wireless communication.
 System Reliability: Dependence on vehicle power and risk of unintended
braking due to sensor issues.
 Driver Interaction: Need for a safe manual override and potential driver
resistance.
 Regulatory and Ethical Issues: Compliance with varying regulations and
privacy concerns.
 Cost and Complexity: High development, implementation, and maintenance
costs.
 Behavioral and Situational Limitations: Effectiveness depends on accurate
detection and may not handle all emergency situations well.

9. Summary/conclusion

The project on an automatic braking system integrated with alcohol detection and
wireless control effectively enhances vehicle safety. By detecting the presence of
alcohol in the driver's breath, the system automatically triggers the braking
mechanism, preventing potential accidents. This innovative solution addresses the
critical issue of drunk driving, offering a practical approach to reducing road
accidents and improving overall traffic safety.
