1. A 30-year-old female, the patient is taking cardiac glycosides- Lanoxin orally. She
presented with mild chest pain. Initial vitals included blood pressure 90/50 mmHg,
heart rate 114 beats per minute, respiratory rate 18 breaths per minute, and oxygen
saturation of 94% on 3 L/min of oxygen via a nasal cannula. Physical examination
reveals a heart murmur, dry mucous membranes, and disorientation to place and
situation, which was reported to be her baseline mental status per her family
members. The Potassium level result of the patient is 3.1 mEq/L. What are the
nursing implications that a nurse can give to the patient? What are the nursing
considerations before and after giving the medication?
2. A patient is noted to have generalized edema and decreased urine output. The
patient is taking Furosemide 40 mg IV BID as ordered by his physician. The
Potassium level reveals 4.8mEq/L. What would be the nursing interventions that you
can give to your patient? What are the parameters that a nurse should monitor?
