Learning Activities:
Calculation Exercises:
Activity: Students will tackle a series of problems that require calculating the voltage drop across and the current
through resistors in both series and parallel circuits. They will apply Ohm's Law (V = IR) and series/parallel circuit rules
to solve these problems.
Objective: To strengthen their ability to use mathematical formulas to determine electrical properties in different
circuit configurations.
Activity: Students will use circuit simulation to build both series and parallel circuits with various resistor values. They
will use virtual instruments to measure and record voltage drops and currents across resistors.
Objective: To provide hands-on experience with circuit analysis and visualization of how voltage and current behave
in different configurations.
Interactive Problem-Solving:
Activity: Students will engage with interactive tools that allow them to adjust resistor values and observe real-time
changes in voltage and current across resistors. They will explore scenarios such as increasing or decreasing resistance
and note the effects on circuit behavior.
Objective: To deepen understanding of how resistor values impact voltage and current distribution in both series and
parallel circuits.
Assessment Opportunities:
Students will complete quizzes that test their ability to calculate voltage and current across resistors, interpret circuit
diagrams, and explain the effects of different resistor configurations on circuit performance. The aim is to assess their
understanding of theoretical concepts and practical applications.
Homework: incomplete classwork cannot be assigned as homework:
Lesson Evaluation: reflect on what went well and what needs to be improved in the next lesson vis-à-vis students’ progress
