About the team

The Market Abuse team sits within Forensics team. We work


with clients to investigate and remediate issues, transform
Sanctions functions and prepare for and respond to regulation
and regulatory scrutiny.

Our team supports clients active in financial markets and


commodities markets as they seek to manage their market
abuse and Sanctions risks. The team combines regulatory, risk,
markets expertise and data and technology experts. All team

About the role


In this role, the successful candidate will be expected to
work on a range of client engagements across
multinational financial services and commodities clients.
The candidate will primarily work alongside colleagues in
Bangalore and the UK Market Abuse and Surveillance
team within Sanctions. We support our clients with a
range of services:
● Market abuse risk assessments.
● Surveillance vendor evaluations and support for
surveillance strategic roadmaps.
● Market abuse surveillance implementation and
calibration (e.g. detection scenarios, instance
identification, parameter setting and tuning, lexicon
refinement, model tuning).
● Data driven surveillance effectiveness review and
optimisation.
● Reviewing end-to-end data and process flow
supporting surveillance implementations.
● Assistance in responding to regulatory enquiries.
● Supporting clients with development of robust
procedures and alert review.

Essential skills and experience

In order to be successful you will need to demonstrate


the skills and / or experience of the areas set out below:
● An understanding of market abuse regulation and
how this applies to financial services companies and / or
commodities trading firms.
● An understanding of how financial markets
operate and how trading financial products can manifest
in market abuse risk.
● An understanding of how financial services
companies or commodities trading firms make money
from trading financial (or physical) products.
● Display a keen interest in regulation and / or
technology concerning market abuse and surveillance.
● Experience in using data analysis and visualisation
tools (Python, SQL, Alteryx, Tableau).
● Ability to clearly articulate technical approaches
and complex concepts to clients and non-technical
audiences.

Desired skills and experience


● Experience working within a market abuse and
surveillance function for a financial services company
and / or a commodities trading firm.
● Experience of undertaking market abuse and
surveillance engagements for a consulting firm
● Experience in developing or implementing
methods for tuning lexicons or detection models for false
positive reduction within communications surveillance
systems.
● Experience of implementing and refining trade
surveillance detection scenarios through vendors or in-
house build solutions.
● Experience of undertaking risk assessments,
policy and procedure development, controls testing, or
alert disposition and review related to market abuse and
surveillance.
● Experience of providing MI and summarising data
for senior stakeholders.
