Element Project

Samantha Rutherford
History
Neon means "noes" or "novens"
in Greek which translates to "new"
Neon was discovered In London,
1898 by British chemist Sir
William Ramsay and Morris
Travers.
Ramsay chilled a sample of air
until it became a liquid, then he
warmed the liquid; when it
started boiling, they captured the
gas. They first discovered krypton
but once it was removed the gas
had a red hue under microscopic
discharge.
