Basic counselling and guidance

Counselling and guidance play a crucial role in our lives because of the various
services they provide and the assistance they may provide. It can assist us and
students in achieving wellbeing. With suitable and appropriate counselling, it can help
students reach their potential. It can also serve as a confidante for students in facing
different problems and situations. Programmed for guidance and counselling also create
additional initiatives that lessen and avoid issues in our school and community,
particularly for those who are in educational settings. It can assist a community in
acquiring information that will be very helpful to them as well as in providing that
knowledge.
As a future teacher, we also serve as a guidance counsellor for our students,
serving students with different backgrounds, personalities, or beliefs that may not be the
easiest thing to do, as their thought processes may differ. There are several
characteristics or behaviors that I feel that teachers and school counsellors should have
that help them maintain a relationship with their students. Students can be more willing
to open up about their thoughts or accept suggestions when the teacher and school
counsellor is a good listener. A lot of the time, we can think that we have to do all the
talking, but it is necessary to step back and listen to the students first. Also, teachers
must be friendly and easy to approach. Students can feel more comfortable with
individuals they like and accept.
Legal issues in education

In order to cater to students' needs and assist them in overcoming their

deficiencies and discovering their strengths, teachers bear a great deal of responsibility.
Although it is a profession, I believe that every teacher should be more aware of their
responsibilities. Since they have an impact on students' lives, they must take
accountability for the knowledge and skills that students acquire.
One of the guidelines that teachers need to follow is to refrain from acting in a
bullying or discriminating way against a student. Instructors need to be careful with their
words and actions, particularly when providing feedback to students following a
presentation or exercise, as this could lead to depression or an absence of enthusiasm.
Instead of getting interested in learning, it might go in the opposite way like being
discourage of oneself and hiding oneself to avoid getting laugh at. Aside from teaching
students, a teacher also had a responsibility in uniting the parents and community to be
able to build trust and confidence to one another. Community is said to be the blood of
the school that keeps it going and functioning.
The legal basis of education is a reminder for the teachers to be
aware of their responsibility and be conscious of their words and actions to avoid
hurting anybody and discriminate a student who only found a new hope to learn. It is
very important that teachers are aware of the laws and legal bases of education
because these laws protect us and guide us. Understanding these laws help us develop
our professionalism, character, personality and sense of responsibility. They serve as a
framework to guide us exercise our rights, the rights of our students and the limits of our
authority and influence.

Action research is a method that assists teachers in thinking critically about their
own experiences and establishing plans of action to address any problems or make
circumstances better that they may find challenging. It is also a useful tool for
professional growth. School action plans and personal management plans are
presented as additional options for managing classroom management problems. These
strategies work well for handling challenging behavior in both the classroom and on a
personal level.
Action research is vital for the improvement of a learning institution. It is able to
help the teacher in ensuring effective teacher development. Action research allows
teachers to take their everyday data collection and turn it into a tool to better their
classrooms.
By conducting action research, teachers can identify areas of improvement,
implement changes, and assess the effectiveness of their interventions, leading to
continuous professional growth and enhanced student learning outcomes. Additionally,
action research promotes collaboration and reflective practice, enabling teachers to
share their findings and insights with colleagues, fostering a culture of continuous
improvement within the school community.
CRITICAL THINKING
As future educators, the recent seminar on critical thinking has left a profound
impact on my perspective towards teaching and learning. The interactive sessions and
thought-provoking discussions have not only broadened my understanding of critical
thinking but have also inspired me to incorporate these skills into my future teaching
practices.
One of the key takeaways from the seminar was the realization that critical
thinking goes beyond memorization and regurgitation of facts. It involves a deep
engagement with the content, encouraging students to question, analyze, and evaluate
information. This approach not only fosters a deeper understanding but also equips
students with the skills necessary for success in an ever-changing world.
The seminar emphasized the role of educators as facilitators of learning rather
than mere disseminators of information. It highlighted the importance of creating an
inclusive and open-minded classroom environment that encourages students to express
their thoughts and challenge conventional wisdom. As future educators, we play a
pivotal role in nurturing a generation of critical thinkers who can navigate the
complexities of the modern world.
In conclusion, the seminar on critical thinking has been a transformative
experience for me as a future educator. It has reshaped my understanding of the role I
will play in the lives of my students and has equipped me with the tools and mindset
necessary to foster critical thinking in the classroom. I am excited to apply these
principles in my future teaching endeavors and to contribute to the development of a
generation of students who are not just knowledgeable but also adept critical thinkers.
