(a) discussing why there is a need to study the problem,

(b) clarifying the important terminologies ,
(c) establishing the degree of seriousness of the
problem .
The following questions will aid the researcher in formulating the
background of the study:

1.What is the rationale of the research problem?

The researcher aims to provide beneficiaries with the reasons behind

their decision to seek solutions to the problem.

2.What is the setting of the research problem?

The setting is crucial in defining the problem's boundaries and

indicating specific demographic characteristics.
The following questions will aid the researcher in formulating the
background of the study:

3.What is the basic literature foundation of the study?

This section outlines the terms or variables utilized in the study.

4. How serious is the chosen research problem?

This is to answer the question, why is there a need to look for solutions
to the problem? The researcher must intensify and expand the
magnitude of the problem.
The following questions will aid the researcher in formulating the
background of the study:

5. What is the general objective of the research problem?

The general statement of the problem should serve as the foundation

for the enumerated statements of specific problems.

6. What is the overall purpose of the research problem?

The researcher must be fully aware of the purpose of the research

problem.
The Background of the Study includes:

1.The macro to micro approach is used to discuss the problem

in both general and specific situations.

2.The text provides a comprehensive overview of the problem,

including the clarification of key terminology;and

3.The discussion focuses on the current conditions and the

future goals or gaps that research aims to fill.
WHAT’S MORE!
The Background of the Study should clearly outline the
problem's scope, similarities from other countries, and the
research's location. It should highlight the difficulties and
importance of investigating the problem, leading to the study's
objectives and addressing the reader's needs.

For example:
Title: Problems os State Universities and Colleges’ Middle
Level Managers: A Basis for the Development of a
