MAIN ACTIVITIES X-ICP – SHAPE OF MOLECULES

1. On your notebook draw dot-and- cross diagrams for the single atoms H, C, N and O
2. Draw the bonding for molecules BeCl2, BCl3, CH4, NH3, NH4+, H2O, PCl5, SF6, and C2H4
3. Define the lone pair and bond pair for molecules BeCl2, BCl3, CH4, NH3, NH4+, H2O, PCl5, SF6, and
C2H4
4. Explain the shapes of and bond angles for that molecules
5. Mention the factors that influence the size of the bond angle!

With your group, you can access the virtual lab for knowing more about shape of the molecules.

➢ Take the screenshoot for shapes of molecules. Determine the lone pair and bond pair.
➢ You can try to make the shape of the molecules with the molymod, take the picture and
determine their shape
➢ Collect the pictures of the molecular shapes into one word, submit them to your teacher via
airdrop
