1)Define the term retained profit. (you can skip this question if you want as we have not
discussed retained profit) 2 points
Money/profit that is not given to any shareholder and is used for things in need such as
research in CH’s case.

2)Explain one advantage and one disadvantage for CH of having a mission statement. 4
points
CH’s mission statement is putting customers first and then profits and one of the
advantages this has is getting good publicity. However one disadvantage of not putting
profits first is that their research and development will not be able to go into further
growth and not enough money to make vaccines for the people.

3)Explain two possible external sources of finance CH could use to continue production of
anti-venom vaccines. 4 points
WHO (World Health Organization) could help them with money as it would benefit them
too to lower deaths and injuries from venom. Another source could be NGOs giving them
money or partnering with Copper Health as they were the ones urging CH to find a new
source.

4)Discuss CH’s decision to stop producing anti-venom vaccines. 10 points

CH’s decision to stop producing anti-venom vaccines may seem like a good idea as they
can focus on other vaccines and other problems as they do not have enough money to
compete with other producers and to research anti-venom vaccines, but they are going
against their mission statement which was putting customers first and then profit. CH is
doing the opposite by not listening to their customers and going to do other projects that
seem to need less money. They can fix it by partnering with another company that does
medical research or getting investors to invest in their company.
