MODEST COTTAGE - KITCHEN - DAY
The kitchen is modest and slightly worn. CINDERELLA, a tired yet resilient young woman in ragged clothes, scrubs the kitchen floor. Her stepsisters, ANASTASIA and DRIZELLA, lounge nearby, gossiping and giggling. ANASTASIA (laughing) Did you hear about the Prince's ball? Every eligible lady in the kingdom is invited! DRIZELLA (smirking) As if Cinderella could ever dream of going to such an event. CINDERELLA (softly) I can dream, can't I? ANASTASIA (mocking) Keep dreaming, Cinderella. The STEPMOTHER enters, a stern presence. She glances disdainfully at Cinderella. STEPMOTHER (coldly) Cinderella, make sure our dresses are prepared for the ball. And no daydreamingstick to your chores. Cinderella nods, trying to hide her disappointment.
INT. CINDERELLA'S SMALL ROOM - NIGHT
Cinderella sits by a tiny window, sewing. A single tear rolls down her cheek. Suddenly, a gentle, warm light fills the room. The FAIRY GODMOTHER appears, shimmering ethereally. FAIRY GODMOTHER (comforting) Why so sad, dear? CINDERELLA (teary-eyed) I was hoping... to go to the ball. Just once, to be something more than this... FAIRY GODMOTHER (smiling) Dreams are powerful, Cinderella. And tonight, yours will come true. With a wave of her wand, the room transforms. Cinderella's rags become a breathtaking gown, and she now wears delicate glass slippers. CINDERELLA (astonished) It's... it's beautiful! FAIRY GODMOTHER (gently) Remember, at the stroke of midnight, the spell will break. Make the most of every moment. Cinderella nods in gratitude.
INT. ROYAL PALACE - GRAND BALLROOM - NIGHT
Cinderella enters the grand ballroom, awestruck by its splendor. The guests part, and the PRINCE's eyes lock onto hers. He approaches her, captivated. PRINCE (softly) May I have this dance? Cinderella smiles, and they glide onto the dance floor. The room watches in awe as they dance, lost in each other.
INT. GRAND STAIRCASE - NIGHT
As the ballroom clock strikes midnight, Cinderella realizes the time. She hurriedly breaks away from the Prince and runs down the grand staircase. PRINCE (calling out) Wait! I don't even know your name! Cinderella glances back, but keeps running. One of her glass slippers slips off. The Prince picks it up, his eyes filled with determination. EXT. PALACE GATES - NIGHT Cinderella reaches a waiting carriage, which begins to transform back into its ordinary state. She steps inside, clutching her heart, her dream fading back into reality. FADE OUT.
