Present Simple se upotrebljava za sljedeće radnje:

1. Za istinite tvrdnje: npr. Julie lives in Zagreb.

2. Za izražavanje emocija: (love, hate, desire itd.) npr. I love you.

3. Za radnje koje se ponavljaju: npr. He goes to school every day.

4. Za rasporede: npr. Her school starts at 10 o'clock.

5. Za navike: npr. Marko usually does his homework every Monday.

Present Simple se tvori od:

nastavka na glagol -s ili -es ali samo za 3. lice jednine i samo u POTVRDNOM obliku.

Za sva ostala lica glagol ostaje u infinitivu (što znači da se glagol ne mijenja nego ostaje u svom
izvornom obliku).

I like chocolate.

He likes to play football.

Za NIJEČNE rečenice upotrebljavamo: DON'T (za sva lica osim za 3. lice jednine) i DOESN'T (samo za
3. lice jednine).

I don't like chocolate.

He doesn't like to play football.

Za UPITNE rečenice koristimo: DO (za sva lica osmi 3.l.j.) i DOES (samo za 3.l.j.).

Do I like chocolate?

Does he like to play football?


Singular (jednina):

1. I run I don't run Do I run?

2. You run You don't run Do you run?

3. He runs He doesn't run Does he run?

Plural (množina):

1. We run We don't run Do we run?

2. You run You don't run Do you run?

3. They run They don't run Do they run?

Po ovim smjernicama također možeš prepoznati da se radi o Present Simple-u:

usually, sometimes, often, always, never, ever, every day, every summer, every year, in the
morning, in the afternoon, in the evening, on Sunday, on Monday etc.

CYNTHIA'S WORKING DAY

My working day starts very early. From Monday to Friday I get up at half past three and I have a
shower and a cup of coffee. I usually leave the house at ten past four because the car always arrives a
few minutes early. I get to the studio at about five o'clock and start work. My programme Good
Morning Britain starts at seven o'clock and finishes at nine o'clock. Then I leave the studio at a
quarter past ten. After that, I go shopping and visit some friends. I get home at three o'clock. A
woman helps me with the housework and the ironing. I read a newspaper and do some work.

Then my husband gets home at half past five in the evening and I cook dinner. We stay at home in
the evening. We don't go out because I go to bed very early. We usually watch television and then I
go to bed at half past eight, I'm usually asleep by nine o'clock. I think my job is very interesting but I
don't like getting up very early.
