Objectives
The course is designed to provide students with foundation knowledge of computers,
computer-based information systems, and the understanding of their applications in
business context. Students also strengthen the skills to use computer applications to
improve personal work efficiency such as presentations, word processing, and data
processing.
Course outline
The course includes computer literacy; computer-based information system; Internet;
and their role in business. The course also includes the trends of information technology
and their implications for business. In addition, the content of the course also includes
practice of Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel softwares to help
learners manage their personal work effectively

Learning Outcomes

throughout the studying process, basically consisting of four components:

OTHER INFORMATION
1. Preparation for Class: It is expected that the students read related chapters in textbook and lecture
notes before each class. This will help to capture the topics presented and discussed during class
hours.
2. Use of Class Time: Class time will be used mainly for lectures, discussions and exercises.
3. Class Attendance and Participation: Due to the broad range of topics discussed throughout the
course and their inter-relationship, students are recommended to attend 75% classes’ time and
participate proactively in this course.
4. Academic Honesty: Students should represent the results of exercises/ test and exam by
themselves, do not represent the work of someone else as being their own work. Students will get
zero credit if there is a violation.
