1 Introduction
1.1 Scope and Purpose

NeptuneViewer is the representative camera viewer software of IMI Technology.

According to user’s needs, user can drive and control GigE, IEEE1394, USB3.0

protocol Vision cameras.

With NeptuneViewer, user can play and save images, and user can control GigE,

IEEE1394, USB3.0 protocol Vision camera to obtain the desired image. Also,

NeptuneViewer supports analysis and control function of acquired images.

NeptuneViewer provides functions to acquire desired image - Feature control, Trigger

control etc and image analysis – and functions to help analyze images – Zoom,

Mirror/Flip, Histogram, ROI etc. Also, it offers a variety of features such as XML

control for user-friendly and more professional control.

Most of the features applied to NeptuneViewer are based on the Neptune C API

Library which offers a variety of features and excellent usability.

NeptuneViewer complies with the GigE Vision specification, IEEE 1394 specification

and USB3 Vision specification.


1.2 System Requirements

CPU 1.8 GHz or faster process. Dual-core or better

32-bit : 2GB or higher

64-bit : 4GB or higher

Disk Space 200 MB

2.1 Menu Bar

2.1.1 Camera

2.1.1.1 Register Access


User can read or save data using the camera register access

Also, user can open separate window; [Ctrl + Alt + Shift]

Exit NeptuneViewer program

2.1.2 Analysis

Analyzes the currently playing image.

2.1.2.1 Histogram Viewer


Display the histogram of the currently playing image.

 X axis represents the brightness and Y axis is the normalized shunt of the
brightness value.

2.1.2.2 Vertical Profile Viewer

When the entire image is represented by x, y axes, it represents R,G,B values


for the vertical line of mouse point; (x, 0), (x, 1), … (x, vertical height – 1)

 Vertical Line # : Indicate X coordinate value.

 Y coordinate : Indicate entire Y coordinate values.

 R, G, B value : Indicate R, G, B value of specified mouse point.

2.1.2.3 Horizontal Profile Viewer

When the entire image is represented by x, y axes, it represents R,G,B values


for the horizontal line of mouse point; (0, y), (1, y), … (Horizontal width – 1)

 Horizontal Line # : Indicate Y coordinate value.

 X coordinate : Indicate entire X coordinate values.

 R, G, B value : Indicate R, G, B value of specified mouse point.

2.2 Device Pane


Indicate cameras connected to network or PC.

Refresh Devices : Refresh camera list.

2.2.1 Popup menu

This menu is only for GigE camera to set camera connection type. The default
set is Unicast. Multicast allows multiple access to the camera and Unicast
allows one-to-one access to the camera.

 Multicast :

In the multicast mode, the initial access user has an authority to


control every features of camera (Control Authority: Control) and
several other users can access the camera at the same time. But, the
other users except initial access user do not have any authority to set
camera features and can only monitor images that have been set by
initial access user. (Control Authority: Monitoring). Only software
functions (Bayer Conversion, Capture, Image Effect etc) are available
under monitoring authority.

When user connect the camera in Multicast mode, the following


window will be displayed and user can enter the address of the
Multicast destination as below.

Default IP : 239.0.5.21, Default Port : 150

 Unicast :

The Unicast is normal mode of use. (Control Authority: Exclusive). The


user has an authority to control every features of camera. In Unicast
mode, no additional users can access the camera.

2.3 Feature Pane
Indicate all features provided by selected camera.

Visibility: It provides Beginner, Expert and Guru Mode. Depending on the mode,
there are restrictions on the range of feature control.

Show Available Favorites : Display only the features that the selected camera
supports of every selected favorite features.

Export Features : Save the displayed functions as a test file.

Refresh Features : Refresh all features.

Add to Favorites : Add the selected feature to favorite features..

Remove : Deletes the selected feature from the favorite features.

Edit : Edit the information value of selected feature.

Properties : Check detailed information of selected feature.

2.4 Camera Viewer Overview

2.4.1 Viewer Toolbar


Single Shot : Acquires a single image from the camera.

Play : Acquires continuous images from the camera.

Stop : Stop acquiring images.

Camera Control : Open major feature control window.

Save Image : Save image file.

Record : Save acquiring images as a recording file.

Fit to window : Fits the image to the viewer window size.

Full Screen : Change the viewer window to full screen.

Zoom Out : Reduce image size.

Zoom In : Enlarge image.

Zoom 100% : restore the image to its original size.

Flip : Flip image up and down.

Mirror : Reverse image left and right.

Draw Center : Draw lines and circles in the center of image.

Bayer Color : Convert Bayer pattern to RGB color.

Reset Camera : Reboot camera.

2.4.2 Camera Control

2.4.2.1 Feature Setting


Configure the major features of camera.

2.4.2.2 Video Mode

· Pixel Format : Set the image format.


· Frame rate : Set the frame rate.
· Image Color : Set image palette of Thermal imaging camera.
· Temperature spread : Scales the image according to the temperature range
set by user, when mono 12 format of Thermal imaging camera.
· Bayer Layout : Set bayer layout.
· Bayer Algo. : Set algorism, when converting RGB color from the bayer pattern.
· Display Test Pattern : Set test image pattern.
· Image Left : Indicate X coordinate value of ROI.
· Image Top : Indicate Y coordinate value of ROI.
· Image Width : Indicate horizontal width value of ROI.
· Image Height : Indicate vertical height value of ROI.
· Image Maximize : Set the ROI value to the maximum size.

· Image Apply : Applies the entered ROI value to the camera.
· Binning : Set pixel binning.
· Packet Resend (for GigE) : Set packet retransmission function when using
GigE camera.
· Receive Drop Frame (for GigE) : Set whether the user receives an invalid
frame when using GigE camera.

2.4.2.3 Trigger / Strobe

· Trigger Enable: Set trigger enable or disable.


· Trigger Mode: Set trigger mode.
· Trigger Parameter: Set the number of trigger images.
· Trigger Extra Parameters: Set Gain and Shutter values to each trigger images
(Only for Trigger mode 12 and 13).
· Trigger Polarity: Set the type of trigger signal (Rising Edge/Falling Edge) and
set the timing of trigger input signal.

· Trigger Source: Set the source of trigger input.
· Trigger Delay: Set trigger delay time.
· Exposure Time: Set exposure time (for Trigger mode 14).
· Exp. Time Interval: Set exposure time interval (for Trigger mode 14).
· Trigger Noise Filter: Set trigger noise filter.
· Software Trigger: Input software Trigger signal.
· Strobe Enable: Set strobe enable or disable.
· Strobe Mode: Set strobe mode.
· Strobe Polarity: Set the type of trigger signal (Rising level/Low level) and set
the timing of strobe input signal.
· Strobe Delay: Set strobe delay time.
· Strobe Duration: Set strobe duration time.

2.4.2.4 Look Up Table

· KneeLUT Enable : Set KneeLUT enable or disable.

· KneeLUT PassThrough: Set whether to apply Brightness and Gamma value.
· KneeLUT Point n: Set LUT value (1~4).
· KneeLUT Set to linear: Set KneeLUT to linear.
· UserLUT Enable: Set UserLUT enable or disable.
· UserLUT PassThrough: Set whether to apply Brightness and Gamma value.
· UserLUT Save in Channel: Save LUT information to the selected LUT Channel.
· UserLUT Load: Retrieve LIT information from the file.

2.4.2.5 Miscellaneous

· UserSet Load: Retrieve the saved feature information from the selected
UserSet memory.
· UserSet Save: Save the currently set feature information to the selected
UserSet memory.
· UserSet Power On Default: Set the default UserSet memory.
· Save Path: Set the storage location of image file and recording file.

· Save Extension: Set the extension of the image file.
· Save Count: Set the data saving mode when clicking save button.

· Rec Time: Set the recording time of recording file.

2.4.3 Viewer Status Bar


Recv: Indicate the total number of images acquired so far.

Invalid: Indicate the total number of abnormal images acquired so far.

Fps: Indicate the number of frame per second.

Color: Indicate RGB color value of current mouse point on the image.

Trigger : Indicate the trigger is activated and set to be enable or disable.

Size: Indicate the current image size.

2.5 Log Pane


The most of tasks performed by NeptuneViewer are updated such as camera open,
close, image save, recording etc. Every tasks are classified as Information, Warning,
Error.

Save : Save all contents displayed on message log.

Delete All : Delete all contents displayed on message log.

2.6 Status Bar

· Camera Count: Indicate the number of camera connected.


· Opened Count: Indicate the number of camera acquired control.
· CPU Usage: Indicate CPU usage rate of NeptuneViewer program.

· Memory Usage: Indicate memory usage rate of NeptuneViewerprogram.
