Congestal

Two type : tablet , syrup

Congestal syrup Composition:

Each 5 ml contains:

Paracetamol (acetaminophen) 160 mg

Chlorpheniramine maleate 1 mg

Pseudoephedrine hydrochloride 15 mg Dextromethorphan

hydrobromide 4.5 mg

Congestal tablet Composition:

Acetaminophen (Paracetamol) 650 mg

Chlorphenirarnine maleate 4 mg

Pseudoephedrine HCL 60 mg

Congestal Capsules Mechanism of action :

It combine the action of its ingredients as follow:

– Acetaminophen acts as pain reliever and fever reducer.

– Chlorpheniramine maleate acts as antihistamine -Pseudoephedrine hydrochloride acts as nasal

decongestant.

Congestal tablet works by blocking H1-receptor sites on tissues; decreasing activity in the part of the

brain that causes coughing; increasing the pain threshold and increases the blood flow across the

skin, heat loss and sweating; causing narrowing of the blood vessels and reduces swelling in the

nasal passages

congestal syrup Dosage and Administration:

– Unless directed by the physidan, the recommended dose is:

6 -12 years: (5 -10 ml) 3 – 4 times daily.– Do not exceed 4 doses in 24 hours.
Congestal tablets Dosage and administration :

Do not exceed recommended dosage.

Adults and children 12 years and over: take one tablet every 4-6 hours

• swallow whole – do not crush, chew or dissolve

• do not take more than 6 tablets in 24 hours.

Indicator for :

Relieving these symptoms of hay fever and the common cold:

– runny nose and sneezing

– nasal congestion

– minor aches and pains

– headache

– sinus congestion and pressure

Congestal tablets Contraindications :

Hypersensitivity to any of ingredients of Congestal tablets.

Contraindicated in pregnancy and breastfeeding (Pseudoephedrine is not recommended in

pregnancy because it can reduce the blood flow in the placenta and to the baby and When

pseudoephedrine is used during the first trimester, increased chance for birth defects, pass into

breast milk in very small amounts

Congestal tablets Precautions and warnings :

Liver warning: This product contains acetaminophen. Severe liver damage may occur if you take:

• more than 6 tablets in 24 hours, which is the maximum daily amount

• with other drugs containing acetaminophen.

.3 or more alcoholic drinks every day while using this product.

It should not be used to make a child sleeply


Ask a doctor before use if you have :

– liver disease

– heart disease

– glaucoma

– thyroid disease

– high blood pressure

– trouble urinating due to an enlarged prostate gland

– a breathing problem such as emphysema or chronic bronchitis

– diabetes

It should not be used with:

• Any other drug containing acetaminophen (prescription or non-prescription). If you are not sure

whether a drug contains acetaminophen, ask a doctor or pharmacist. congestal syrup

Precautions & Warnings:


If a rare sensitivity reaction occurs, the drug should be discontinued.

Congestal syrup is not to be given in chronic cough such as that occurs with

asthma.

Congestal syrup should not used for children under 6 years old .

Side effect of congestal tablets:

Drowsiness,Heart rate increase,Cardiac arrhythmias,Feeling nervous,Tightness in chest,Stomach

pain,Muscular weakness

,Ringing in ears,Constipation,Blurred vision,Hypotension,Painful urin
