The Great Wall of China is a series of fortifications that were built over
centuries to protect the Chinese Empire from invaders. It is one of the
longest man-made structures in the world and is a UNESCO World Heritage
Site. The Great Wall of China is a symbol of China's long history and culture.
5. Machu Picchu, Peru
Machu Picchu is an ancient Inca city located in the Andes Mountains of Peru.
It was built in the 15th century and was abandoned a century later. Machu
Picchu is one of the most popular tourist destinations in South America and is
known for its stunning mountaintop setting. It was chosen as one of the new
7 wonders of the world on July 7, 2007
6. Petra, Jordan
Petra is a vast, rose-red city carved into the sandstone cliffs of Jordan. It is
one of the most famous archaeological sites in the world and is a UNESCO
World Heritage Site. Petra was the capital of the Nabataean Kingdom, which
flourished from the 1st century BC to the 2nd century AD. The Nabataean
Arabs were skilled traders and Petra became a major trading center on the
Silk Road.
7. Taj Mahal, India
The Taj Mahal is a white marble mausoleum located in Agra, India. It
was built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his third wife,
Mumtaz Mahal. The Taj Mahal is one of the most iconic buildings in
the world and is a symbol of love and devotion. It is a UNESCO World
Heritage Site and is one of the most popular tourist destinations in
India.
