Striving together to make pioneers whose legacy makes a positive
difference to our world. 1
Head of Primary’s Address

I can’t believe we have come to the end of our penultimate half-

term, and what a great week it has been. We welcomed our Year 1
families into school on Wednesday to celebrate and showcase their
lovely learning – well done Year 1! Some of our Year 3 and Year 4
children went out on a football adventure with Ms Huston, and we
also held our annual Movie Night, where the children thoroughly
enjoyed the entertainment and snacks.

Class photos took place on Wednesday, and we will let you know
when they are ready to view for purchase.

After the brief rest of half-term, we will return to a full agenda of

exciting learning activities for all our children across the primary
phase.

Year 1 will have their Phonics Screen Checks and Year 4 have their
Multiplication Tables Check. Both of these tests are national
assessments and will be taking place within the first two weeks of
the half-term. Therefore, don’t forget to practice reading and
timetables throughout the half-term break.

I want to personally thank each and every one of school

community for supporting our children through their education
journey this term and wish you all safe and happy half-term.

I look forward to seeing you all back in school at the usual times on
Monday 3rd June.

Ms West

majority of the Academy Awards alongside student leaders
from the secondary.
2. A poetry performer: we are also looking for one student to
present a poem that they have written or a poem that
inspires them as part of the performance element of the
award ceremony. The poem should take no longer than 2-
3 minutes to present.

Ms Ahmad’s
favourite reads

My favourite children’s book is The Miraculous Journey

of Edward Tulane By Kate Dicamillo. The book tells the
story of a lost rabbit. Abilene loves Her China rabbit.
But one day he goes missing on a voyage from New
York to London. Edward falls overboard and from
there he finds himself on an amazing adventure. This
story is full of twists and turns.
My favourite adult literature is the Kite Runner by
Khaled Hosseni. It depicts the lives of two boys living in
Afghanistan who want to win a competition. But they
have obstacles along the way. A heart wrenching story
of love, loyalty, and family.

Science Week Coming Soon…..!

Week beginning 17th June 2024
To celebrate Science this week, the children will be undertaking
a range of exciting experiments in their classes….
On Tuesday we will focus on Environmental Science and have a
Climate Day. We will be using our science and engineering skills
to see if we can design and make floating gardens such as are
being used ingeniously in Bangladesh to help farmers continue
to grow crops when floods occur as they are with increasing
frequency in that part of the world, due to climate change. We
are asking all the children to wear something green and to bring
in £1 with them that day which will help us raise money to fund
more Science and Climate opportunities going forward….
Happy Science Week everyone!

Resource request: Please start collecting small plastic tubs

(yoghurt pots, jelly pots, small shallow trays - nothing larger than
a margarine tub) and give to your child’s class teacher for the
floating garden project

Key Information
Safeguarding Children

As part of their curriculum, the children learn how to keep themselves safe. The following
website has been set up by the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children
(NSPCC) to offer parents and schools advice on how to raise safeguarding awareness with
children. There is a notable section called ‘The Underwear Rule’ which is of particular
support and guidance to parents. The website also offers advice regarding ‘online safety’
and how to obtain support or advice regarding the safeguarding of children.
www.nspcc.org.uk

In order to safeguard our children, we do not allow for parents/carers to take photographs
or video on school grounds. If you wish to take a photo of your own child, we ask that you
do this once you have left the school site.

The Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) for the school are Mr Austin (Secondary and
overall DSL), with Mr Marshall-Jones as the Primary Safeguarding Lead (DSL). Deputy
Safeguarding Leads include Ms West, Ms Jeremy and Ms Vincent (DDSLs).
