the moderators.

and are placed on a hypothetical sinking ship
(there is a potential Waves pun in there
somewhere).
They have to try convincing the judges (who
act as captains of the ship) to give you the sole
lifejacket while playing the role of the person
allotted to you. Points are allotted on the basis
of creativity and humour.
THE DECISION OF THE JUDGES IS FINAL
AND BINDING
ROUND 3: TABOO

Taboo is a word-guessing game, similar to

dumb charades except here you have to
verbally give clues leading to the word instead
of acting the word out.
The person giving the clues (let us refer to
them as the speaker), is given the word along
with a few ‘ taboo ’ words. These ‘ taboo ’
words are words that the speaker cannot use
in any part of their clues, and doing so is ‘
taboo ’ and must be pointed out by the non-
guessing team and will result in a negative
penalty for the guessing team.
Apart from the mentioned ‘ taboo ’ words,
using a part of the word that you ’ re
supposed to guess also obviously counts as ‘
taboo ’. (For example, you cannot say berries
to lead your team to strawberries, that would
be ‘ taboo ’)
Two terms of 3-4 people each are formed -
the members can name their teams (For the
sake of simplicity, let it be A and B here).
Suppose it’ s A’ s turn to guess, one member
from A comes over the B’ s side - with the
Mod (the Mod here is mostly just to score)
also present.
The speaker that came from A’ s side will be
given a word to guess and 5 ‘ taboo ’ words -
and will start giving verbal clues within the
rules to the rest of their team standing
opposite, while the rest of A’ s team can start
saying guesses to them.
B’ s job is to ensure A’ s speaker doesn ’t use
Taboo words when giving clues. A’ s job is to
get as many correct guesses as possible
within a timeframe of 60 seconds.
Further rules will be explained in detail by
your mod, feel free to ask them in case of any
queries too.

SCORING:

+2: For giving the right clues for a word that

led to a correct guess
+1 : For guessing correctly from the clues
given by your team member
-2 : For using a “Taboo ” word when giving
clues for a word.
Players will be scored individually and the
scores will be added to their total score after
scaling.

ROUND 4:

CATEGORIES
Team composition: 3-4 members (however
participants can register individually and we can
allot them into teams on a random basis)
Teams per college: unlimited
Registration: online/on-fest

Participants are grouped into teams of 3-4

members.
Four teams compete against each other in the
prelims. The moderator gives a broad topic of
interest. Teams then select which member
represents them in that round.
The moderator then gives the specific topic
within a broad topic (for example: if the
broad topic is music bands, the specific topic
can be music bands that originated in the
US).
The team members then have to bet how
many items they can name within the given
specific topic.
The winning team from each set of four,
moves on to the next round.
The number of rounds will be decided based
on the total number of participants.
