Be happy*
Never say I agree or disagree*
Listen actively* (& use gestures to agree or disagree)
Ask your partner questions*
Link your countributions* (with what your partner said before)

A: Should I go first?or would you like to?

B: You can go first
A: Meeting new people could make people really happy, because if
they are sociable and outgoing people for example I would love
meeting new people, I’m a really sociable person and I really love
spending time with others.
B: Yes! Meeting new people can make people happy especially if
you are sociable and for the same reason, moving into a new area
can make people happy, because if you moved to a new area you
would meet lots of new people.

Start General point Personal example Rephrase Linking Negotiate

If your partner is too shy, ask him/her questions
Try to link with what you said in the previous exercise
Use opinion idioms

A: Should I go first?or would you like to?

B: No problem, I’ll go first. I think meeting new people could make
the biggest difference like I said before, and also getting more
money because I love money and with money people have more
freedom of what to do, what do you think?
A: Well, I think that making money or getting more money is
important as you said but we need two things, so can you think of
another one?
B: Money is totally important, but you can’t have money without
other people, can you? So like money comes from other people.
A: Yeah, so you can’t have money also without a skill, so maybe we
should say “meeting new people” and “learning new skills”?
I made up my mind.
B: Yeah, you and I see eye to eye. So we say learning new skills
and meeting new people!
Part 4:
Do you think people work too much in today’s
society?

A: Uh yeah, I for example have to work about three hours every

single day and is so difficult, I have to stand in front of a camera
like an idiot with these people and seriously, right, is humiliating, It
would me much better if people could work less and do what they
love like drinking, for example.
B: Three hours a day?
That is like modern slavery! That is a lot of work. Especially if you
are like standing in front of a camera, Being in front of a camera is
like the most difficult thing ever.
I think people forget what is important in life. I mean, if you’re
working for three hours everyday then how can you enjoy being
beautiful for example?
I think we need to change our modern idea of work
A: Uh, yeah? But in what way?
B: Well, like many people today are influencers and they just live
their lives and take pictures of it and they get paid for doing it!
A: Right, so I could drink a beer, take a picture of it and get money?
