Lesson Two: Fragments and
Run-On Sentences
Our Learning Goals:
1. Students will be able to identify complete sentences.
2. Students will be able to identify subjects and predicates.
3. Students will be able to write complete sentences
effectively.
LET’S PRACTICE: Change each fragment sentence into a complete
sentence that has a subject and predicate.

TASK 1: Read each group of words below. Circle sentence if it is a
complete sentence or circle fragment if it is missing a subject or predicate.
What is a run-on sentence? A run-on sentence is two complete
sentences that run together.

How can you fix a run-on sentence? You can fix a run-on sentence
by creating two sentences or creating a compound sentence using
conjunctions.

Your Task: Correct each run-on sentence below by either creating two
sentences or creating a compound sentence using FANBOYS.
