Introduction:
The OP92 operating panel, and the software for it, is developed by Hoyer with the
specific purpose to provide a panel, which functions can be tailor-made to fit different
machinery. The panel is used on e.g. Rollos, Multi-lane wrappers, Straightlines,
Dinos, Vikings, Viscomaxs etc.
In each case the panel program will be set-up to give the desired functions.

Ways of Loading the Panel:

The panel can be loaded with the program in two manners;
1) From an Eprom sitting in the communication module on the plc it normally
communicates with, or
2) Directly from a PC.

Here both types of download procedures will be described, as well as the procedure
for uploading the panel program to a PC.

Please note that on the latest set-up of the communication between a Siemens 95 U
plc and the OP92-panel there is no communication module installed, thus no Eprom
containing the program. In this set-up the communication is taking place via a second
on-line plug on the CPU. The OP92-panel must in this case be loaded directly from a
PC.

Clearing the OP92-Panel:
Before any program is loaded into the OP92-panel it is recommended to clear the
panel first. This is recommended because old data might be present in the panel, and
due to the fact that only the text lines actually containing text will be overwritten
when a program is downloaded. This means that old text lines will “survive” a new
download, if they are not overwritten. This can cause disturbance in the OP92-panel
function.

Reset Procedure:
a) Push PARA - F9 - PARA – C (This is the letter "C" in the column with A, B, C, D,
E.)
The panel will ask if you want to do an overall reset. Confirm by pressing
Enter.
This method, however, is only possible on panels of version 1.9 or newer.

b) On older versions a jumper on the OP92-panel print card (JP2) must be moved
from “on” to “off” to reset the panel. (The power supply to the panel must be removed
first).

c) A third way to reset the panel is to perform a “Blank OP-Panel”;

- Open the OP92 software
- Select Communication, then Blank Op Panel and follow the instructions.

Note: Taking the battery out of the panel might also clear the panel, but there is no
guarantee that the panel is completely cleared. Therefore one of the 3 methods
mentioned above should be used instead.

Download from Eprom in Communication Module (Siemens CP 521 card):

1) Press PARA F9 on the OP92-panel to put it in command mode.

2) Activate the turning switch in the plc-cabinet *) while you make a stop-run on the
plc. The download will start. The text lines, which are transferred, can be seen in the
display of the OP92-panel.
3) Wait for the download to finish (text in OP92-panel stops changing)
4) Make a stop-run on the plc again.
8) Press PARA F9 to put the OP92-panel back in on-line mode.

*):
a) One some Rollos there is no turning switch. Here the reset button must be pushed
instead.
b) There might be other variations on other machinery, regarding which button should
be activated. In the electrical drawings (or the plc-program) for the actual machine it
can be seen which input should be activated while the stop-run is made.

Note: The parameters/settings of the machine the panel is sitting on will not be
changed when the program is downloaded, since all parameters are stored in data
words in the PLC.

Download of Program from PC:

Required Hard- and Software:

1) A cable as shown on drawing no. 024,21475 (page 8) must be used. This cable has
3 ends, which provides two options:
a) Circuit loop communication between PLC and OP92-panel.
b) RS232 communication between PC and OP92-panel.
2) A laptop PC with OP92 software version 6.53.

Download Procedure:
1) Press PARA F9 on the OP92-panel to get the panel in command mode.
2) Press PARA F4 to change from current loop to RS 232 communication
(See page 7 for a complete overview of panel settings).
3) With the right program loaded in the OP92 software; select Communication, then
PC -> Op Panel – All and press start. The download will start. The text lines, which
are transferred, can be seen in the display of the panel.
4) Wait for the download to finish (the text in the panel stops changing). This might
take 2-5 minutes.
5) Press PARA F4 to change back to circuit loop communication.
6) Press PARA F9 to put the panel back in on-line mode.

Uploading Program from OP92-panel to PC:
If desired the actual program in the panel can be uploaded into the PC. This will of
course also require that the OP92 software is installed on the PC.

Uploading Procedure:
1) Press PARA F9 on the OP92-panel to get the panel in command mode.
2) Press PARA F4 to change from current loop to RS 232 communication.
3) Open the OP92 software without loading any program.
4) Select Communication, then OP Panel -> PC.
5) Press “Start”. A message saying “Waiting” will appear on the screen *).
6) Press PARA F5 on the OP92-panel. The upload will start. A number of dots in the
panel will indicate that the upload is in progress. When these have run out the upload
is finished.
7) Press PARA F4 to put the panel back in current loop communication.
8) Press PARA F9 to put the panel back in on-line mode.
9) Save the uploaded program on the PC under a new name.

*) The panel might also say “Receiving”. If this is the case the download must be
restarted until the message says “Waiting”. Otherwise the download will be faulty.
