Suggested short outline for developing your research proposal

1. Introduction
1.1.Research background (theoretical foundation of the research context, situation analysis, and a
little background information about the case organization (Bank) your study is supposed to be
conducted on)
1.2.Statement of the problem (it shall include general scientific facts supported by literature,
interactive proposition (research gaps), literature gap, and purpose of the study).
1.3.Research questions (they must have an investigative nature)
1.4.Research objectives (both general and specific objectives, and they need to be framed based on
the key factors identified from literature)
1.5.Significance of the study (specify the beneficiaries of the findings of your study)
1.6.Scope of the study (please specify the scope conceptually, geographically and methodologically)
1.7.Limitations of the study (if any, but please focus on procedural limitations rather than physical
limitations. Don’t mention shortage of finance and time as potential limitations)
1.8.Organization of the paper: proposed structure of the final paper (manuscript)

2. Literature review [Partial review only for the sake of supporting your research hypotheses]
2.1.Theoretical and empirical literature review (extensive review is not mandatory for proposal)
2.2.Conceptual framework: a schematic representing the structural link between study variables
2.3.Hypothesis [if applicable]: outline the proposed relationships between study variables

3. Research Methodology
3.1.Research design and approach (whether your study adopts a descriptive, exploratory or
explanatory design OR a mix of any of these designs; and Whether it follows a qualitative,
quantitative or mixed approach)
3.2.Data source and data collection methods (primary or secondary source or both; and data
collection techniques such as questionnaire, interview, document review, observation, etc..)
3.3.Population, sample size and sampling techniques (specify the target population, determine the
sample size using a scientific standard, specify what kind of sampling technique you are
contemplating to adopt)
3.4.Validity and reliability (write the techniques you are planning to adopt in order to check the
validity and reliability of your data collection instrument)
3.5.Methods of Data Analysis (specify what kind of analytical technique are you planning to adopt)

4. Budget and time plan (use Gant chart)


5. References (strictly adhere to the guidelines of APA citation style while putting down both in-text
citations and references)
