Matthew: Good morning, everyone, this is another episode from our radio interview ‘Everyday Knowledge’.
Today I am pleased to welcome Mr. Keith Underwood, CEO of the Guardian newspaper.
Mr. Underwood: Thank you, Matthew I am pleased to be here as well. I am excited to start this radio interview
with you on board.
Matthew: Mr. Underwood, do you believe that newspapers are still important today?
Mr. Underwood: Well, we don’t sell as many newspapers as we used to do in the past, but thousands of people
here in the UK and abroad still read for The Guardian nowadays because they are curious to know more about
dramatic news around the world, they also read about sports and comedy too. I believe this is a good reason for
us to continue working and improving The Guardian.
Matthew: That is great. Can you tell us more about The Guardian newspaper and what makes it different from
other newspapers in the UK?
Mr. Underwood: The Guardian is a serious newspaper; it is objective and it verifies the truthfulness of news
before publishing them for readers to read them, unlike sensational newspapers which only look to publish
shocking, false news to boost their sales, fool their readers, or make them laugh. In the coming months, we are
going to launch the digital version of The Guardian to allow our readers to buy and read their favorite
newspaper online, watch live news and reports and also write their reviews in the readers’ corner.
Matthew: We can’t wait for that, personally, I would love to see how the digital version looks like. Thank you
for all these information, Mr. Underwood.
