How does Shakespeare make the audience fear the weird sisters? Find features of their
language which differ from other characters. You could identify:

1. They speak in rhyme.

2. Their lines are shorter than the other characters’ lines.

3. They never speak in prose, only verse.

4. They use words like ‘charm’ and old-fashioned language even for
Shakespeare’s time, like ‘aroint’.

5. The number three is important in magic and they use it several times.

1. Why is the Thane of Cawdor being executed?


2. How does he reward Macbeth for killing the rebel Macdonald?

4. Make a list of quotations which show how Macbeth is seen by others.

5. What impression do we get of King Duncan? Is he a good king or not?


Consider how fair he has been in giving Macbeth his new title.

Mac Beth seemed to have been happy about these prophecies because they had
eventually came true however Banquo seems to be skeptical about the whole
prophecy because he knew that the witches are tricking them into falling into
darkness
