Task 1: The line graph below shows changes in the amount and type of fast food

consumed by Australian teenagers from 1975 to 2000.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features and
make comparisons where relevant.
» Write at least 150 words.

The diagram illustrates the evolution of fast-food consumption among

Australian adolescents between 1975 and 2000. Overall, despite being the most
popular type initially, fish and chips were overtaken by pizza and hamburgers in 1985
and 1990 respectively, both of which saw significant increases over the period.
In 1975, fish and chips were consumed about 100 times per year. However,
after a slight fluctuation and reaching 85 by 1985, this figure plummeted over the next
15 years, ultimately surpassed by other fast-food options. By 2000, the number of
annual servings had dwindled from 85 to 40.
In contrast, it was the hamburger consumption that reached a peak level.
Starting with a modest number of 10 in 1975, their popularity surged, eventually
eclipsing fish and chips, after which its growth decelerated, culminating in a yearly
consumption of 100, ensuring its dominance.
Similarly, pizza consumption also increased markedly, albeit at a slower pace
compared to hamburgers. Beginning at 10 annual servings in 1975, the number rose
steadily, reaching 85 by 1995, where it levelled off and remained constant until 2000.

Task 2: Too much emphasis is placed on testing these days. The need to prepare for
tests and examinations is a restriction on teachers and also exerts unnecessary pressure
on young learners. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
