TEXT I

WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT CAT?

Cats, or commonly called domestic cats, are four-legged carnivorous mammals. Its Latin
name is Felis catus or Felis sivestris catus. The domestication of cats is believed to have begun in
ancient Egypt 9,500 years ago. Since then, cats have become human companions. Currently the
most popular pet in the world, he is the second most popular pet in the United States and is often
referred to as the house cat. There are currently believed to be over 70 cat breeds in the world.
Most cats are furry, but only some cats, such as: Cats such as the Sphynx are born with
little body hair. Some cats have long tails, others short. It also has a very flexible body and sharp,
retractable claws. Usually, cats reach a weight of 4-5 kg and a length of 23-25 cm, but in some
cases, they can be smaller or even larger. Their eyes can see in the dark, and their ears can hear
high frequency sounds that humans cannot hear. They are excellent single hunters and have a very
good sense of smell. There are many different colours of cats in the world: white, brown, grey,
black, striped and even multi-coloured cats. They are a social species and can make a variety of
sounds such as meowing, rumbling, hissing, and growling.

MY CAT
Nunu is my pet’s name. He is a male fluffy kitten. He has greyish-brown fur all over his
body and tail. He has black stripes over his front and hid leg. His eyes’ colour is black and his nose
is also black. He has short little tail. He has a pair of black triangular ear. Although he has claws
on his feet but he isn’t harmful.
I feed Nunu regularly, three times a day. He likes most food I give to him, such as salty
dried fish, raw and cooked fish and meat, or even chicken and fish bone. He only drinks freshwater
as I never give milk to him.
I train Nunu to keep his cleanliness by providing him litter pan. Sometimes, I also wash
him to make him clean. I usually play with him by using a piece of paper that I tied by yarn. When
I pull the yarn up and down, the moving piece of paper will attract him and he will chase it. He is
so amazing with his playful habit. I will look after him until he grows to be an adult cat.
