Science: Science in 4th grade covers basic concepts in topics like plants and animals,

ecosystems, the human body, weather, and the Earth’s natural resources. It often includes
experiments to help students understand the scientific method and encourage curiosity about
the world around them.

### **Science**

1. **Plants & Animals**:

- **Example**: Roots help anchor a plant and absorb water. The leaves use sunlight to make
food.
- **Example**: Mammals are warm-blooded animals, like dogs and humans, that give birth to
live young.

2. **Ecosystems**:
- **Example**: In a forest ecosystem, trees provide food for deer, and deer are prey for
wolves.
- **Example**: A food chain: Grass → Rabbit → Fox

3. **The Human Body**:

- **Example**: The heart pumps blood throughout the body.
- **Example**: The lungs help us breathe in oxygen and breathe out carbon dioxide.

4. **Weather & Seasons**:

- **Example**: When the sun heats up water in rivers or lakes, it turns into vapor. This is called
**evaporation**.
- **Example**: Rain, snow, and hail are forms of **precipitation** in the water cycle.

5. **Natural Resources**:
- **Example**: Solar energy is a renewable resource.
- **Example**: Coal is a non-renewable resource because it takes millions of years to form.
