Here’s a 12-week remedial grammar and writing skills plan tailored


specifically for Grade 5 students. The lessons are simple, interactive,
and designed to build fundamental skills gradually. Each week focuses
on one concept, with one period dedicated to teaching and a few short
exercises to reinforce learning.

Week 1: Sentences and Sentence Structure

Lesson Focus: What makes a complete sentence? (subject, predicate(

Objectives: Learn how to identify and construct complete sentences.

Activity: Have students complete or fix incomplete sentences.

Practice: Write 5 simple sentences, then underline the subject and circle the predicate.

Week 2: Types of Sentences

Lesson Focus: Declarative, interrogative, imperative, and exclamatory sentences

Objectives: Recognize different sentence types and use them in writing.

Activity: Turn statements into questions or commands.

Practice: Write one example of each type of sentence.

Week 3: Nouns

Lesson Focus: Common vs. proper nouns; singular and plural nouns

Objectives: Learn to identify and use nouns correctly.

Activity: Classify nouns into common or proper; practice making singular nouns plural.

Practice: Write a short paragraph using at least 5 proper nouns.

Week 4: Verbs
