THE NANO

WORLD
A report by: Abesamis, Morales & Villanueva
What is

NANOTECHNOLOGY?
Nanotechnology is the engineering and
manipulation of matter at the nanoscale. This
scale refers to anything with one dimension
measuring between 1 and 100 nanometers (nm).

To put that in perspective, a human hair is roughly

SIZE
Nanotechnology deals with things that are incredibly tiny. A
nanometer is equal to one-billionth meter. At the nanoscale,
materials can have different properties compared to their
larger-scale versions.

For example, Nanotechnology can help in designing

targeted drug delivery systems. Nanoparticles can be
engineered to deliver medication directly to cancer cells,
reducing side effects and improving treatment effectiveness
CHARACTERISTIC OF NANOTECHNOLOGY

ENHANCED PROPERTIES
Nanoscale materials can be stronger, lighter, more
chemically reactive, or have better electrical conductivity.
The enhanced surface area and quantum processes that
dominate at such small sizes are responsible for these
special qualities.

INTERDISICIPLINARY NATURE
Nanotechnology is interdisciplinary in nature, encompassing
several scientific fields such as engineering, chemistry,
biology, and physics. This multidisciplinary strategy enables
a wide range of applications in numerous industries,
including electronics, energy, and medicine.
