Hierarchy
SIR KYLE TORRAZO
WHAT IS
STEWARDSHIP?

management of something

OF THE SOCIAL TEACHINGS OF THE
PHILIPPINE CHURCH

SECOND
PLENARY
COUNCIL OF THE
PHILIPPINES
(20 January - 17 February 1991)
THEIR GOALS:
Church of the Poor
The Church is there for everyone, It is there especially for
the needy. This is the practice of Preferential Option for
the Poor.

Establishing the Basic Ecclesial Communities (BEC)

Basic Ecclesial Communities (BECs) are small groups of
people within the Roman Catholic Church who come
together to foster spiritual growth, mutual support, and a
sense of community among their members. These
communities are often found in areas where traditional
parish structures may not be well established or
accessible, such as in rural or economically disadvantaged
regions.

GOD RATHER
THAN MEN

and vote-buying that occured during this
time.
SECOND
PROVINCIAL
COUNCIL OF
MANILA (PCM II)
TWO KEY IDEAS:
Communion and Formation
Communion is considered a sacred and
deeply meaningful act for Christians, as
it signifies their relationship with Christ
and their fellow believers. It is an
essential part of Christian worship and is
often accompanied by prayers, hymns,
and Scripture readings that help convey
the significance of the ritual.
FORMATION
the process by which individuals
within the Christian faith seek to
grow and develop in their
relationship with God, deepen their
understanding of Christian beliefs
and values, and mature spiritually. It
involves the intentional and ongoing
effort to become more Christ-like
and live out the teachings of Jesus
Christ.

“Our country is in
peril. All the living
systems on land and
in the seas around us
are being ruthlessly
exploited. The
damage to date is
extensive and sad to
say, is often
irreversible. One does
not need to be an
expert to see what is
happening and to be
profoundly troubled
by it.”
THE FOREIGN
DEBT PROBLEM

OUR TIMES
(1993)
