I. CONVERSATION:
José: Hi! How's your new part-time job going?

Ludenford: Hey! It's going pretty well, thanks. I'm working at a local bookstore. How about you?

José: Nice! I'm working at a coffee shop downtown. What are your main responsibilities?

Ludenford: I mostly help customers find books, restock the shelves, and sometimes I work the cash
register. We also organize events like book signings. What about you?

José: I take orders, make coffee, and keep the place clean. Sometimes, I get to create new drink
recipes and test them out. What are your work hours like?

Ludenford: I usually work in the afternoons, from 1 PM to 6 PM. Sometimes I have to work weekends
if there's a special event. What about your schedule?

José: I work in the mornings, from 7 AM to 12 PM, but occasionally I cover evening shifts if needed.
How much are you getting paid?

Ludenford: I'm making $12 an hour. The job also gives me a discount on books. And you?

José: I'm earning $10 an hour. I get free coffee during my shift, which is a nice perk. Do you like your
job?

Ludenford: Yeah, it's pretty relaxed and I get to be around books all day. Plus, my coworkers are great.
How do you like yours?

José: It's busy, but I enjoy making coffee and talking to customers. My team is fun, and the customers
are usually friendly. It's a good job for now.

Ludenford: That's great to hear! Do you get many regular customers at the coffee shop?

José: Yeah, there are quite a few. It's nice because you get to know their orders and have little chats.
Do you have any favorite tasks at the bookstore?

Ludenford: I really enjoy setting up the displays and recommending books to customers. It's fun to
share my favorite reads with others. Maybe we can hang out after our shifts sometime.

José: Sounds like a plan! We could grab dinner or catch a movie. It'd be nice to unwind after work.

Ludenford: Definitely. Let’s set a day soon. Good luck with your shift tomorrow!

José: Thanks, you too!
