Title: Creating Change: Empowering Students through Community Service

Objective: This project aims to encourage students in grades 6-8 to apply problem-solving,
decision-making, teamwork, and leadership skills to design and execute a community service
project. By engaging in this project, students will not only make a positive impact on their
community but also develop valuable skills for personal growth and become active citizens.

Project Description:

1. Introduction and Orientation:

a. Begin by introducing the concept of community service and its importance.

b. Discuss the skills and qualities necessary for successful community service projects,
such as problem-solving, decision-making, teamwork, and leadership.

c. Provide examples of community service projects that have made a positive impact on
communities.

2. Project Brainstorming:

a. Instruct students to brainstorm ideas for community service projects individually or in


small groups.

b. Encourage them to think creatively and consider their interests, skills, and community
needs.

c. Students should aim for projects that require synthesis or creating-level thinking.

3. Project Proposal: a. Ask students to develop a comprehensive project proposal that


includes the following:
o Project goal and rationale
o Target audience or community
o Activities and resources required
o Timeline and action plan
o Budget (if applicable) b. Emphasize the importance of addressing community
needs and making a sustainable impact.
4. Project Execution: a. Once project proposals are approved, students can begin
implementing their plans. b. Encourage regular check-ins with students to provide
guidance, support, and resources as needed. c. Facilitate opportunities for students to
collaborate, problem-solve, and make decisions together during the execution phase.
5. Reflection and Evaluation: a. Throughout the project, provide reflection opportunities for
students to assess their progress, challenges faced, and lessons learned. b. Encourage
students to document their experiences, capture photographs/videos, and keep a journal
or blog. c. Facilitate a final reflection session where students share their projects, discuss
outcomes, and evaluate their impact on the community.
Assessment: Assessment can be based on the following criteria:

 Completeness and quality of the project proposal


 Engagement and effort shown during project execution
 Reflection and self-assessment of the project's impact on the community and personal
growth
 Presentation of the project and its outcomes

Conclusion: By engaging in a community service project that requires synthesis or creating-level


thinking, students will develop essential skills while making a positive impact on their
community. This project will empower students to become active citizens who are capable of
leading change and contributing to the betterment of society.
