4. From video 1 and in your own perspective, what comprehensive assessment means and how does
it work in assessing the students’ performance.

According to the video, comprehensive assessment is a performance-based assessment that


aims to assess a student’s deep understanding of the subject and their ability to apply different
concepts. The video also showed different professors that used comprehensive assessment by using
different methodologies rather than the traditional pen and paper. As a future educator myself,
comprehensive assessment means focusing on what your student’s can actually do without relying
too much on the standardized test. Comprehensive assessment is a modern methodology that
deviates from the traditional assessment of students that is usually in the form of a written
examination. Comprehensive assessment works by using different tools for measurements such as
group projects and class activities that are much more engaging that doing written works.
5. From video 2, list down the relevance or importance of the five (5) keys to comprehensive
assessment. Write the specific examples as shown in the video.

1. MEANINGFUL GOALS AND MEASURE


-The professor believes that the students will learn more if the school is clear about their goals.
-The students has goal to make use of the information they have gained.
-The professor makes use of concept mapping to present the major skills the students has to learn.
-The professor produces a clear learning outcome each day.
-The professor has a specific rubric to determine the student’s proficiency.

2. FORMATIVE FEEDBACK
-The professor makes a small checking to the students.
-The teacher always asks what the students know and what they do not know.
-Giving formative feedback that the students can immediately apply.
-Students doing their on reflecting due to formative feedback.

3. SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENT
-Professors use different methods for summative assessment such us oral test, essays, and project-
based assessment.
-Exhibits can serve as a summative assessment because it shows what the students had
accomplished and what they can accomplish.
-The teachers made sure that the students truly understood what they are doing by letting them
explain their work.

4. PERFORMANCE ASSESMENT
-Professors prepare projects that would require collaboration and critical thinking.
-The students blend both cognitive and non-cognitive skills to fully demonstrate the extent of their
performance.
-The schools brings in people from the community to further assess the student’s performance
outside the school.
-Modeling performance assessment into real life experiences.
5. STUDENT OWNERSHIP
-Allow the students to have full ownership of their learning.
-The students should own big parts of the assessment process.
-Allow the students to be engaged is self-assessment and peer-assessment using rubrics.
-Students writing about their strength and areas for growth.
-Students value assessment more if they are involved in the process.
