Introduction
The aim of this reports is to create a pond in a town square that
follows the following criteria. The criteria states that the pond must
take 33.6m2 to 39.2m2 of land and must have at least 1.5m of walking
space between the pond and the edge of the town square. Because
of the cost of lighting, the council wishes that the perimeter of the
pond to be no more than 35m. I chose this pond design because it
was the most aesthetically pleasing out of all the designs.
Observations
 Town square where the pond will be is 14m x 8
 The area of the pond must be from 33.6m2 to 39.2m2
 The maximum perimeter of the pond must be 35m
 Must be at least 1.5m of walking space between the pond and
the edge of the square
 The pond should look appealing
 Must be made up of 3 shapes
 Must include a complex shape
Assumptions
 The pond will be seen my many tourists and visitors. The
reason for this being as it is in the centre of a town square

Evaluation
While designing the pond, I had to refine and change the design to
make it into the pond that it is now. After my first design, I realised
that this would not work as the pond was too small and I required a
larger design. After this observation, I made the decision to scrap
that design and create an entirely new once. This second design had
the right dimensions and fit perfectly into the requirements of the
assessment. These changes improved the design dramatically and
turned it into what it is now.
The pond fits into the requirements as follows:
1. It takes up between 33.6m2 to 39.2m2 of land
2. Its perimeter is no more than 35m
3. There is at least 1.5m of walking space
4. It is made up of at least 3 shapes
5. It includes a complex shape
Conclusion
In conclusion, I believe the pond to be a great design but I do believe
it could use more work, such as the fact that it doesn’t include many
complex shapes and I believe there could be more complex shape.
Other than that, I believe that this pond design has proven its self to
be a great design.
