To diagnose and resolve audio issues in PES 2017 on your PC, proceed through these steps

systematically, as missing or misconfigured system components could lead to audio failure.

Let's troubleshoot like an IT professional:

Step 1: Verify General Sound Settings

1. Check your system's audio output:

o Right-click on the speaker icon in the taskbar, select Sounds, and ensure the
correct playback device (e.g., speakers or headphones) is set as Default
Device.
2. Confirm Volume Levels:
o Open the Volume Mixer by right-clicking the speaker icon and selecting
Open Volume Mixer. Verify that the PES 2017 application isn't muted or set
to a low volume.
3. Restart the Game and Audio Services:
o Close PES 2017.
o Open the Run dialog (Win + R), type services.msc, and restart the
Windows Audio and Windows Audio Endpoint Builder services.

Step 2: Check Game-Specific Audio Settings

1. Check PES 2017 Sound Settings:

o Open PES 2017 and navigate to Settings → Sound Settings. Ensure all sound
options are configured correctly (e.g., master volume and individual sound
types like commentary and effects).
2. Reset Configuration File (Optional):
o If the audio settings were modified recently, reset the game’s configuration
file (typically found in Documents\KONAMI\PES 2017\config).
o Backup the file and delete it, then restart the game to reset to default settings.

Step 3: Reinstall or Update Audio Drivers

1. Update Sound Drivers:

o Go to Device Manager (Win + X → Device Manager), expand Sound, video
and game controllers, and right-click your audio device. Select Update
Driver.
o Choose Search automatically for drivers and follow the prompts to install
any updates. Alternatively, visit the manufacturer’s website for the latest
drivers.
2. Reinstall Drivers:
o Right-click the audio device, select Uninstall device, and then restart your
computer. Windows should automatically reinstall the driver.

Step 4: Install DirectX and C++ Redistributable Components

Missing or outdated system files often cause sound issues in games. The two primary
libraries that PES 2017 relies on for sound are DirectX and Microsoft Visual C++
Redistributables.
1. DirectX:
o Install the latest version of DirectX 11 or DirectX 12, as PES 2017 relies on
these for audio processing. Missing or corrupted DirectX files (e.g.,
XAudio2_7.dll, dsound.dll) can prevent sound from functioning.
o Run the DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer to update any missing or
outdated DirectX components.
2. Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables:
o PES 2017 may require specific C++ Redistributables (usually 2010 or 2015-
2019). Visit the Microsoft Download Center to download and install the
appropriate versions.
o These packages include DLL files that PES relies on, such as MSVCP140.dll,
VCRUNTIME140.dll, and XAudio2_7.dll, which are critical for sound
processing in the game.

Step 5: Reinstall PES 2017 (Last Resort)

If all else fails, reinstalling the game may correct any corrupted or missing game-specific
files. This process ensures all necessary game files, including audio DLLs, are installed
correctly.

By following these steps, you should be able to identify and correct the underlying issue with
PES 2017’s audio. If missing DLLs persist, identifying the specific missing files via Event
Viewer or a Dependency Walker may help narrow down the exact component.
