Assignment #1: HRPA Scavenger Hunt

This activity is designed to help you review key material in the HRPA website. Answer the questions in the following
template. Save the template and your responses as a file and submit it in the submission folder. The file name
should be in the following format: your name Assignment #1.
Important Notes:
This assignment is due in the submission folder on the due date (Friday at 11:59pm)
No Late submissions will be accepted
The file must be saved in a format which can be opened in MS Word.
This submission is individual work
Grading:
You can earn up to 10 points for this assignment. Responses will be graded
according to the following scale.

1-4 Provides minor or incorrect understanding of the HRPA details.

5-7 Provides a basic response demonstrating some understanding of HRPA


details.

8-10 Provides a thorough response demonstrating a full understanding of the


HRPA details.

Scavenger Hunt
Search HRPA’s website (www.hrpa.ca). Search for the following information

1. What minimum level of education is required to obtain your CHRL


designation?

You must have a degree from a reconized educational institution

2. Which courses require successful completion in order to write the CKE


exams? What grades are required in each course to meet minimum
requirements?

The courses are HR Management, Compensation, Labour/Industrial relations,


Finance and accounting, HR planning, Recruitment and Selection, Training and
development, organizational behavior, ocupational health and safty. All courses
must be at a minnium of 65%

3. Name 5 Chapters in the HRPA.

Chatham-Kent
Guelph & District
Grand Valley
London & District
Sarnia & District
How much work experience is required prior to obtaining your CHRL designation?

You must have at least 3 years of HR experince at a professional level

5. What are the 3 different types of HR designations?

CHRP, CHRL, CHRE

6. What are the 3 different registration classes of membership in HRPA?

Practitioner, Student, Allied Professional

7. What are the CHRP Knowledge Exam (CHRP-KE) & CHRL Knowledge Exam (CHRL-KE) & the
Employment Law Exams (CHRP-ELE and CHRL-ELE)?

They are exams that allow you to get ur designation

8. Explain the differences between the CHRP-KE, CHRL-KE and the CHRP-ELE/CHRL-ELE

The difference between both exams is that the CHRP-KE and the CHRP-ELE are both entry level exams and
when you go on to do the CHRL-KE and the CHRL-ELE it will be the same concept but more difficult

9. What is the Job Ready Program?

The job ready program is training around professionalism and ethics thats broken down into 4 modules

10. What is the recertification log and what is CPD? After how many years do you need to recertify?

The Recertifcation log discribes the various categories and types of activities that meet the CPD
requirement. CPD is continuing professional development and it ensures that members who have earned
there desinations participate in ongoing professional development activites. You must recertify every 3
years
