Registration of External Candidates for Ph.D.

i. Speech-Language Pathology
ii. Audiology
iii. Speech & Hearing

The Institute also offers Ph.D. programs to external candidates (including in-service
candidates) in the areas related to Speech, Language and Hearing.

Admission Eligibility

i. For Ph.D. (Audiology), candidates must have passed M.Sc. (Audiology) / M.Sc.
(Speech and Hearing) / MASLP / M.ASLP degree examination of the University
of Mysore or any other examination considered equivalent thereto by the
University of Mysore, with a minimum of 55% (50% in the case of SC/ST and
candidates from SAARC countries).
ii. For Ph.D. (Speech-Language Pathology), the candidates must have passed
M.Sc. (SLP) / M.Sc. (Speech and Hearing) / MASLP / M.ASLP degree
examination of the University of Mysore or any other examination considered
equivalent thereto by the University of Mysore, with a minimum of 55% (50% in
the case of SC/ST and candidates from SAARC countries).
iii. For Ph.D. (Speech and Hearing), the candidates must have passed M.Sc.
(Aud.) / M.Sc. (SLP) / M.Sc. (Sp. & Hg.) / MASLP / M.ASLP degree examination
of the University of Mysore or any other examination considered equivalent thereto
by the University of Mysore, with a minimum of 55% (50% in the case of SC/ST
and candidates from SAARC countries).

Mode of Selection

a) Candidates have to go through the entrance examination conducted by the University of


Mysore for Speech & Hearing course and AIISH Entrance Examination for Speech
Language Pathology and Audiology. Exemption from entrance examination is as per
University of Mysore regulations from time to time.
b) Candidates who have passed entrance examination need to appear for an interview
before a selection committee constituted for the purpose by the Director of the Institute.
Based on the merit list and availability of slots, candidates are admitted to the program.

The following are the general guidelines for external candidates interested in pursuing Ph.D.:

 Candidates employed should obtain NOC to apply.


 They should be in AIISH campus and work in department for a total period of
100 working days, in stretches of not less than 15 working days every year till
they submit the thesis. This should be attested by the DAC
 They should abide by the rules and regulations of the Institute during their stay.
 They should take “no dues” from AIISH before submission of the thesis.
 Candidates should pay annual fees prescribed for Ph.D. program to AIISH.
