Licensing Requirements

S5710-C-LI V200R001C00
NOTE
For details about software mappings, visit Hardware Query Tool and search for the desired product
model.
Feature Limitations
l Proxy ARP does not take effect for gratuitous ARP packets.
l Intra-VLAN proxy ARP and inter-VLAN proxy ARP determine whether VLAN
information meets proxy requirements based on ARP entries matching source and
destination IP addresses of packets. If no ARP entry matches the destination IP address
of a packet, the switch broadcasts an ARP request in the VLAN (for intra-VLAN proxy
ARP) or all sub-VLANs of the super-VLAN (for inter-VLAN proxy ARP) to learn the
APR entry matching the destination IP address. When multiple switches on a network
have proxy ARP enabled and a requested destination IP address does not exist, this ARP
broadcast packet triggers the same proxy process on other switches. This cyclic proxy
process will cause a broadcast storm.
l CPCAR limits the rate of protocol packets of different services sent to the control plane,
ensuring security of the control plane. A switch can set the default CPCAR values for the
packets of each protocol. The CPCAR values of some protocol packets need to be
adjusted based on the actual service scale and user network. If the CPCAR values are
adjusted improperly, network services are affected. To adjust the CPCAR values of ARP
Request and Reply packets, contact Huawei technical support engineers.

S5710-C-LI V200R001C00
NOTE
For details about software mappings, visit Hardware Query Tool and search for the desired product
model.
Feature Limitations
l A switch only supports the DNS client function.
l When static DNS is configured, a maximum of fifty static DNS entries can be configured
on the switch.
l When dynamic DNS is configured, a maximum of six DNS server IP addresses (shared
by IPv4 and IPv6) and ten domain name suffixes can be configured on the switch.
Licensing Requirements
mDNS gateway is a basic feature of a switch and is not under license control.
Version Requirements
Table 5-6 Products and versions supporting the mDNS gateway function
NOTE
For details about software mappings, visit Hardware Query Tool and search for the desired product
model.
Feature Limitations
l A switch cannot function as both mDNS relay and gateway at the same time. A
protection failure will occur if the mdns relay enable and mdns gateway enable
commands are both configured on the same switch.
l To prevent high CPU usage, it is recommended that you configure the following when
deploying mDNS gateway services: the mDNS group function (using the mdns group
group-name, user-vlan vlan-id &<1-32>, and service-vlan vlan-id &<1-32> commands)
and the service types that can be recorded by the mDNS gateway (using the mdns
permit service-type service-type id id command).
l If high CPU usage occurs in the MDGW (mDNS gateway) module after the mDNS
gateway service is deployed, configure the mDNS group function and the service types
that can be recorded by the mDNS gateway to reduce CPU usage. (To check CPU usage,
run the display cpu-usage command.)
Licensing Requirements
mDNS relay is a basic feature of the device and is not under license control.

NOTE
For details about software mappings, visit Hardware Query Tool and search for the desired product
model.
Feature Limitations
A switch cannot function as both mDNS relay and gateway at the same time. A protection
failure will occur if the mdns relay enable and mdns gateway enable commands are both
configured on the same switch.
When an mDNS relay agent is deployed on the network, the client and mDNS gateway must
be on the public network or in the same VPN. The client and mDNS gateway cannot be
located on different VPNs.

S5710-C-LI V200R001C00
NOTE
For details about software mappings, visit Hardware Query Tool and search for the desired product
model.
Feature Limitations
l IPv6 addresses cannot be assigned to the management interface.
l In V200R011C00 and later versions, the VLANIF interface of a super-VLAN on a
switch supports the IPv6 function.
l The switch can set the CPCAR values for the packets of each protocol. The CPCAR
values of some protocol packets need to be adjusted based on the actual service scale and
user network.
l If the default CPCAR value of ND packets cannot meet the packet exchange
requirements when too many IPv6 user hosts are connected to the switch, a large number
of ND packets may be lost and the switch fails to learn ND neighbor entries. Therefore,
the CPCAR value must be adjusted. To prevent the CPU from running with a high load,
the CPCAR value needs to be increased to a proper value.
l If the CPCAR values are adjusted improperly, network services are affected. To adjust
the CPCAR values of ND packets, contact technical support personnel.
5.10 DHCPv6
Involved Network Elements
Other network elements are not required.
Licensing Requirements
DHCPv6 is a basic feature of a switch and is not under license control.

NOTE
For details about software mappings, visit Hardware Query Tool and search for the desired product

Feature Limitations
Wireless users do not support DHCPv6.
In V200R010C00 and later versions, L3 sub-interfaces support the DHCPv6 function.
In V200R011C00 and later versions, the VLANIF interface of a super-VLAN on a switch
supports the DHCPv6 function.
In V200R013C00 and later versions, Layer 3 VXLAN gateways support the DHCPv6 relay
function. VBDIF interfaces functioning as gateways on distributed gateway devices use the
same IPv6 address. If Layer 3 VXLAN gateways are distributed gateways and the IPv6
address is used to communicate with the server, the response packets from the server are
forwarded to the incorrect distributed gateways (devices that do not send DHCPv6 request
packets). To resolve this issue, you need to run the dhcpv6 relay source-interface Loopback
interface-number command on each distributed gateway to specify the IPv6 address of the
loopback interface as the source IPv6 address of the DHCPv6 relayed packets for ensuring
that response packets from the server can be forwarded to the correct distributed gateways.
Licensing Requirements
IPv6 DNS is a basic feature of a switch and is not under license control.
Version Requirements

NOTE
For details about software mappings, visit Hardware Query Tool and search for the desired product
model.
Feature Limitations
l A switch only supports the IPv6 DNS client function.
l When static IPv6 DNS entries are configured, each domain name can map a maximum
of eight IPv6 addresses.
l When dynamic DNS is configured, a maximum of six DNS server IP addresses (shared
by IPv4 and IPv6) can be configured on the switch.
Licensing Requirements
The IPv6 over IPv4 tunnel function is a basic feature of a switch and is not under license
control.
Version Requirements

Feature Limitations
l The IPv6 over IPv4 tunnel function does not take effect after you perform one of the
following operations:
– Running the ip error-packet-check disable command to disable the IP packet
checking function on the S5720I-SI, S5720S-SI, or S5720SI
– Running the drop illegal-mac alarm command to configure the switch to send a
trap to the network management system (NMS) when receiving a packet with an
all-0 MAC address on the S5720I-SI, S5720S-SI, S5720SI, S5730S-EI, S5730SI,
S6720S-SI, or S6720SI
– Running the drop illegal-mac enable command to discard packets with an all-0
invalid MAC address on the S5720I-SI, S5720S-SI, S5720SI, S5730S-EI, S5730SI,
S6720S-SI, or S6720SI
l The switches in stack do not support the IPv6 over IPv4 Tunnel function.
Licensing Requirements
The IPv4 over IPv6 tunnel function is a basic feature of a switch and is not under license
control.
Version Requirements
Only the following switches support the IPv4 over IPv6 tunnel function:
l S5720HI in V200R009C00 and later versions
