Isabelle Alonso’s English Blog
Hello from the U.K.!
I’m not at home in Buenos Aires this month—I’m at a language school in Burford, near
Oxford in the U.K. The school is great, but I have six hours of English classes every day!
I’m with a British family in Burford, and that’s awesome for English practice. Mr. and Mrs.
Cooper are really nice, but their food isn’t very nice! It’s very different from my mom’s
food.
Their daughter, Wendy, is 13 years old, like me. She’s great, and she has some cool
friends. Wendy’s brother, Jack, is 16 years old. He’s nice, too, but his room is next to my
room. He has a guitar and he’s a big fan of rock music!! (I’m not.)

Choose the correct answers: A or B.

Is Isabelle from Burford?

(A) Yes, she is (B) No, she isn’t

1 Does Isabelle have five hours of English classes every day?

(A) Yes, she does. (B) No, she doesn’t.

2 Is Isabelle happy () with the Coopers’ food?

(A) Yes, she is. (B) No, she isn’t.

3 Does Wendy have cool friends?

(A) Yes, she does. (B) No, she doesn’t.

4 Is Isabelle’s room across from Jack’s room?

(A) Yes, it is. (B) No, it isn’t.

5 Does Jack have a guitar?

(A) Yes, he does. (B) No, he doesn’t.

Review test: Units 3–4 C

The Coopers have a big house, with five bedrooms, and it’s 120 years old! It’s on Witney
Road, across from a small store and near the center of town. My room is awesome. It has
two big windows, a bed, a desk, and some nice pictures on the wall. There’s a TV in my
room too, and three shelves with DVDs on them—but I don’t have time for movies. In my
free time, I’m with Wendy and her friends.
My hometown is a 24-hour city, and it has a population of 3,000,000 people. Burford is a
very small town, and it isn’t interesting at night. But Burford is near Oxford, and Oxford is a
fantastic city! Burford is a nice place for two months, but I’m happy to be from Buenos
Aires!

Match the questions and answers. Use a different color for each pair.

How old is the Coopers’ house? (A) Yes, it is.

(6) Where is their house? (B) 3,000,000

(7) Are there any pictures in (C) No, she doesn’t.

movies?

(9) How many people are there in (E) It’s near the center of Burford.
Buenos Aires?

(10) Is Oxford a good city? (F) It’s 120 years old.
