Text notes:
1. Human Resources are important:
 Healthy, educated and motivated people with their knowledge, skill and
available technology utilize various resources and contribute to the growth
and development of a country is known as Human Resources.
 The resources are useful only when it is utilized by human.
 So, human resources are important.

2. Factors leading to Population Distribution:


Physical factors: 1.Topography – plain & mountains
Geographical factors: 1. Resources – Soil, Water, minerals 2. Climate –
temperature, rainfall
Economic factors: 1. Industrialization 2. Urbanization 3. Transport &
Communication

3. Population Density:
Classified into densely populated, moderately populated and sparsely
populated

4. Factors leading to Population Change:


1. Migration: Movement of people within a country or outside a country.
2. Birth Rate: Number of birth per 1000 people in one year
3. Death rate: Number of death per 1000 people in one year

5. Age composition:
 Dependent Population:
- Children (below 15 years)
- Aged people (above 65 years)
 Economically active Population: People aged between 15 and 65 years. It is

also known as working population or productive population.

6. Population pyramid: (It is also called age sex pyramid)


 Population Pyramid is the diagrammatic visual description of Population also
known as Age-Sex Pyramid.
 It shows division of population into various age groups like 5 to 9 years, 10
to 14 years etc.
 It gives the percentage of male female ratio, in each age group.
 It tells about number of dependents-young and old along with number of
economically active peoples.
 It helps to understand the economic, health, social structure by indirectly
referring to death, birth rate in terms of age and sex

7.The significant features of the National Population Policy 2000?

 National Population Policy is a policy adopted by the Government of India in


2000.
 It aims at stabilising the population by 2045.
 It also lays emphasis on the economic growth, social development and
environment protection.
 The Policy states that it will achieve this goal by raising the age of marriage,
making school education free and compulsory upto the age of 14 years and
reducing dropouts at the primary and the secondary levels.

1. “Sixty percentage of the world’s people just stay in 10 countries”. Name the
countries and Analyse the reasons.
