Consumption of fast food has been slowly rising over the years as it is becoming more

accessible in many more areas. This line graph shows us the consumption of 3 different
types of fast food in Britain - from 1970 to 1990.

The red line represents the consumption of fish & chips. As we can see, the rate of
consumption has been increasing steadily over the years, and it has skyrocketing since the
1980’s. In 1990 the consumption of fish $ chips has multiplied by more than 5 times, which is
500g. This is a significant increase as other fast food options have not reached such high
numbers. For example - hamburger consumption rate has also been steadily increasing from
the 1970 up until 1990, however there has been a little jump from 1985 to 1990 where
hamburger consumption is triple to the years prior, reaching just short of 300 grams. These
fast food consumption trends are not the same for different foods however, pizza, for
example has seen a decline of consumption up until the 1980s, where it plateaued to only
200g.

In conclusion, we can see that fast food trends do not follow the same tendency. Pizza has
been decreasing in consumption, but the consumption of hamburgers and fish & chips has
been skyrocketing. This shows us that in the 1990’s, Britain’s people love eating fish & chips
and hamburgers compared to eating pizza.
