Telecontrol versus Automation

Requirements for
Telecontrol Automation
 Data transmission  Periodical transmission
caused by change only of all data
(spontaneous transmission)

 Prioritisation of data  Deterministic reaction time

 Highly standardised  Low pre-processing functions

pre-processing functions

 Widely distributed networks  Usually restricted to one place,

decoupled networking on
telecontrol level

Due to the increasing network solution modern systems have to fulfil

both requirements simultaneously!

Typical Addressing Concepts

 Fully free addressing possible

 Big advantage compared to conventional systems, where addresses are
defined by the manufacturer and not adjustable
 Every addressing should have a structure
 Addressing can be structured system technically
(system technically addressing)
and reflects the Hardware of ACP 1703.
 Process technically addressing
 Dependent on process,
CASDU = substation,
IOA3=field, IOA2=operational equipment, IOA1=number
 Dependent of address concept of a 3rd party system,
CASDU= substation,
IOA3=individual information type,
IOA2=individual group address, IOA1=individual group object

 Transmission of data is generally

carried out by time and date; priority
controlled

 Resolution 1ms

Automatic Data Flow

Basic concept

 All routing to data sinks are carried out by Toolbox II

(periphery, third party system, CAEx plus, system functions)

 Data exchange within and between the automation units is learnt

automatically with ACP 1703 ("self-learining data flow")

Automatic Data Flow

Boundary Conditions

 A net wide unique address can be parameterized at the data source of every
data point.
 Address structure in accordance with IEC60870-5, however, in byte structure
(CASDU1, CASDU2, IOA1, IOA2, IOA3)

 Binary information, measured values… has to be addressed to source

 Commands, setpoints has to be addressed to target

(according to IEC 60870-5),
i.e. same CASDU1, CASDU2 as corresponding data in monitoring direction
(IOA1,2,3 are not affected)

Automatic Data Flow

Functions in ACP 1703

 All data for the monitor direction (single point information, double point
information, measured values etc.) are sent via interfaces with
parameterization “monitor direction"

 Commands, setpoint values are sent via interfaces with configuration

„Control direction" AND, whose address (CASDU1,2) is corresponding
to the address of the received information
( commands have target address)

 The data flow is continuously being learned, it is no reset necessary for

new data

For special cases:

Data flow filter,

 Example: Interlocking information
from station control device to the bays
 possible parameterization:

 A different variant: Interlocking information get a separate CASDU, and

this CASDU will be sent to all interfaces

Diagnostic stage: TOOLBOX II local / plant

local

IEC 60870-5-101/4

 communication to automation unit direct

via optical cable
via other automation
 The location of the TOOLBOX II is not
units
relevant, as long as all other automation
units are connected together via IEC
60870-5-101 or IEC 60870-5-104.
 Exception: TM 1703 mic

 No direct communication with the automation unit

 „Remote control“ of a second PC which is connected to the automation unit, via
software like RSM, NetOP or PC-Anywhere
 Advantage: interactive supervision possible
