1. A car of mass 1000kg is moving with a velocity of 72 m/hr find its
momentum (ans : 20000 kg m/s)

3. A force of 50N acts on a stationery body of mass 10 kg for 2 sec. find the
acceleration produced in body and velocity attained ( ans v = 10 m/s)
4. A bullet train is moving with a velocity of 180km/h and it takes 5 sec to stop
after brakes are applied. Find the force exerted by the brake on the wheel
of train. If mass of wagon is 2000 kg ( ans F = - 2000 N )
5. A force of 6N gives a mass m1 an acceleration of 18 m/s2 and mass of m2
an acceleration 24 m/s2 what acceleration would it give if both tied

velocity along level road . the same motor car is pushed by 3 person to

9. A hammer of mass 500g moving at 50 m/s strikes a nail . the nail stops the
hammer in a very short time of 0.01 s what is the force of nail on the
hammer (ans F = -2500 N )

10. A motorcycle of mass 1200 kg is moving along a straight line with uniform
velocity 90 km/hr its velocity slowed down to 18 km/hr in 4 sec by an
unbalanced external force . calculate acceleration and change in
momentum also magnitude of force required ( ANS a = -5 change in
momentum =-2400 kg m /s F = -6000 N )
11.A vehicle is moving with velocity of 5 m/s if momentum of vehicle is 5000
kg m/s what is mass? ( m = 1000 kg)
12. Force of 10N applied to a mass m1 produce an acceleration of 5 m/s2 and
when applied to mass m2 produce acceleration 15 m/s2 .how much
acceleration it would produce if both tied together (ans a = 3.75 m/s2 )
13.A bullet of mass 4g when fired with a velocity of 50 m/s can enter a wall
upto depth 10 cm how much will be the average resistance offered by the
wall (ans a = -12500 m/s2 )
14.How much time would a force of 200N acts on an object having mass 5 kg
so as to increase its velocity from 50 m/s to 100 m/s? (ans t = 1.25 s)
15.The motion of a body of mass 5 kg is shown in velocity time graph

Find (i) acceleration (ii) force acting on the body (iii) change in

19.An object of mass 5g is accelerated uniformly from a velocity 4 m/s to 8m/s
in 8 sec calculate (i)initial and final momentum (ii) magnitude of force

20.A bullet of 10 g strikes a sand bag at a speed of 1000 m/s and gets
embedded after travelling 5 cm calculate
(I) The resistive force exerted by sand on bullet
(II) The time taken by bullet to come to rest

21. A force of 5N produce on an acceleration of 8 m/s2 on a mass m1 and an
acceleration of 24 m/s2 on mass m2 what acceleration would the same
provide if both masses are tied together (ANS a = 6 m/s2 )
22.If the acceleration of a a car provide an acceleration of 2 m/s2 to start it
from rest then assuming mass to be roughly 1000kg calculate
(i) Force provided by the engine
(ii) velocity after 10 sec
(iii) Time after which the car comes to rest if the engine is turned off in
15 sec (take frictional force 15 N )
(Ans F = 2000N v = 20m/s v after 15 sec v= 30 m/s)
